Who likes shooting sports?

At 14 I experienced my first blast of a shotgun. Surprised by how loud it was and amazed by the concussion wave it delivered, I was hooked. I've enjoyed shooting sports ever since.
It doesn't matter what tool used: handgun, rifle, archery, slingshot...I love the meditative state required to focus and the satisfaction of connecting. The awesome power display of vaporizing targets with high powered rifles, or the thump and action of handgun rounds relieve tension.
Reloading cartriges in search of the best powders, bullet weight, and resizing combination adds to the experience and makes it affordable.
What are all of your thoughts on shooting sports?

Nothing like the feel of a M240B kicking into your shoulder, feet digging into the dirt behind you, and the chunks of earth blasting out of the ground.

I'd love to fire an LMG or RPG. :P

Oh hells ya! I have competitively shot archery, small bore rifles, long range rifles, and shotguns for about 12 years now! It is so relaxing, and something I will never give up!

    • What's funny about me is that with archery, I prefer at least somewhat traditional. I shoot a recurve with none of the "bells and whistles." But with firearms, I'm not a fan of black powder...I want extreme accuracy and long range, and to just work the bolt/slide/lever to load the next round.

I am a bolt action guy myself, I find that my accuracy suffers when I shoot semi auto. As far as archery I shoot a Hoyt Alphamax... Its all about what feels good to the individual shooter!

        • Absolutely...
...and I agree about lever actions on rifles. I have a .243 and a 7mm Remington that I reload the cartriges for. When you use a bolt, you can neck-size the cases if you're going to shoot them in the same gun, since it's left fire-formed to that chamber. I can cut 3 inch groups at 300 yards down to inch and a half from doing that alone.
...but I'm rambling haha. It's a passion, sorry.

1.5 inch is not too shabby! Congrats on the marksmanship sir! My favorite rifle is my browning A-Bolt .308 but I am very emotionally attached to my Ruger M-77 bolt action .207! 10/22 Ruger obviously being the funnest gun in the world to plink around with because of cheap ammo and cheap unlimited customization!

    • Yeah..I should have specified participation. Myself, I like watching too, but competing..or even just shooting in my back yard is pretty gratifying.
