Yes I do, regularly. My dad raised us to be fitness and health conscious. He was a natural bodybuilder, and still is. Natural means no steroids, etc.
I do weight training, occasionally heavy, I run laps in the gym, up to 7, which is a mile but no long distance running. And one in a while lap swimming although I do not like the swimsuits fit, but it is good cardio.
I kn ow a lot about fitness and give good advice.
I have a chronic illness so I can't work out yet but hoping to be able to again in the near future. I loved jogging, cardio and intense yoga sessions.
I'm not consistent, but I do lift weights and walk my dog pretty often. I also have dance parties by myself several nights a week.
I have my own high end gym in my basement.
Due to Long Covid I have not been able to work out as much as I used too. I am currently doing light exercises at least 4 times per week.
I used to work out 6 days a week with a pretty robust program (Upper body, Lower body, Hands/wrists & Knees) each in rotation twice a week. That gives each area 3 days to recover before going back to it.
Gym? No. I do stuff at home. Gonna start visiting the local pool soon since my transfer finally went through and I have more time
I just started lifting weights (dumbbells) and doing sit-ups last week. Trying to build some muscle.
I did push-ups, situps, and dumbbell flies for a long time, as well as the 8 Minute Abs/Arms/etc. videos (available on YouTube or I think they can be purchased on DVD online; I had an ancient VHS tape until it quit working right, then searched for it and found it on YouTube, and have a TV that will play it big enough to watch while doing it). Unfortunately, I've fallen off the wagon when it comes to this and need to get back into it. I really don't enjoy doing repetitive sets of push-ups and situps at all. It is so mind-numbingly boring! The 8 Minute videos and dumbbell flies aren't bad, and I should really at least get back to those.
The one thing that's really been easy for me to stick to is just walking. I really enjoy it and walk anywhere from 30-60 minutes or more per day, and have a treadmill in my basement for when the weather sucks.
I don't currently have a gym membership and have thought about getting one to take some classes that might be easier to stick to, but I have other things that money is better spent on at the moment.
Im thinking about buying a treadmill do you know which kind I should get?
Here is the choice that you will have to make.
There are many companies that focus on producing cheap treadmills and other exercise equipment. The warranties are limited; and the equipment often breaks within a few months if you are actually using it.
There are several companies that produce high quality tread mills that will take hard use for decades with minimal maintenance. Of course, these cost a lot more. But are totally worth it if you are actually going to use it.
I have owned a number of the former... and were really disappointed.
In my basement now is a Professional Model "Total Gym" from 20 years ago that is built like a tank (it weighs 30 Lb more than the "equivalent" home model and that 30 Lb is all in the frame. I recently had to replace the glide wheels and the cable. About $100, after a lot of use over those 20 years. I expect its ready for another 20 years before needing those replaced again... The base machine will last forever as far as I can tell.
I have a "Landice" L7 treadmill of the same age which has a lifetime warranty on it (to the original owner) should something break or need replacing. Every few years I have purchased and used a tube of belt lubricant (less than $5 item).
It's so nice to have equipment you can actually use for long periods of time that do not break down.
Do some research on brands and look at prices of the different equipment. You will easily see the cost difference between low end and high end equipment. There is some in the middle - and I have not looked at those. I just wanted to eliminate the breakdowns and repairs and have machines that worked long term without problems.
That professional grade Total Gym and the Landice treadmill were some of the best investments of my life.
I've had the same kind for years that was a present as a teen, but don't know much about which are the best brands or types. The one I have has worked great for what I've needed, however. It says "Weslo Cadence G 5.9" on it. I'm not sure exactly how many years I've had it, though it's definitely been awhile, but it's been great for me!
I don't go to any gyms unless you count my city's martial arts gym/dojo, but I do have weights at home.
I'm 6ft3 & 280lb's (310lb's at my heaviest, all 30lb's lost was fat), as of right now I can:
Bench 350lb's.
Curl 180lb's standing & 130lb's sitting (preacher curls).
Butterfly 410lb's.
Don't know how much I can squat because I don't have a squat rack so I just front squat my curl bar with my standing curl weight.
Hit a heavy bag for 30 minutes.
& I grapple/spar with my gym mates for 2 hours 3 times a week.
I currently do some cardio ( gonna do weights in the future ) because I still give loads of shits about my weight. I still believe I can lose 20 lbs before 2022.
( For context I am a 5ft 7 dude who weights 180lbs )
After I lose the 20lbs I plan to lose another 10lbs
Ive probably recommended this to you before but look into intermittent fasting it really makes things easier.
I do intermittent fasting 18/6 it's pretty time efficent for myself. If I eat breakfast I normally get indigestion so focusing on dinner as my sole main meal is great. I add some extra fiber snacks in my 6 hour window so it doesnt take a half hour to poop.
It's good if you still wanna eat crap but not gain weight. Been maintaining the same weight for years now through fasting. If I cut the crap I ate I would lose weight.
