Whos a better catch

Both of these men are equally attractive and have the same personality and you are looking for a long term relationship and to be living together.

Man A: He insists you must work yourself and atleast try to pay half of everything.

Man B: He says you can work if you want but you dont have to. He also hands you a debit card with 500 a week for spending money and he hires a cleaning lady so you dont have to clean.

Man A 8
Man B 11

    Go with man A.
If you go with B you'll be totally fucked when he leaves you.

Yep. I work in retail and we have a couple of former homemakers working here who's breadwinner partners were actually smart about the divorce.

These former homemakers seem to have forgotten how to work, save money, and be on their own. They constantly complain about having to sweat and be on their feet all day like the rest of us. They also complain about how they can't afford rent, yet they're spending their money on clothes, accessories, and expensive food the store sells.

For some of them, back when they were married, they acted like Karens toward some of the workers. The workers that remember that shit will go out of their way to treat them badly.

I could never put myself in a situation where I need to rely on someone else. Seeing how other people turn out is enough to make me steer clear of it. XD

I've worked with a few Karens as well, who will bitch about having to be on their feet or get their hands dirty. But they don't seem to last long.

Personally I couldn't stand just sitting around at home without something to get me out of bed or at least keep me active.

Same here. I got injured at work last May and was out of work for two months. During the second month of being out of work I was so stir crazy that I started counting all the OSHA violations in the juice factory levels of the Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze video game I was playing. XD

Atleast she holds a job. Many people I know will bounce around and never stick with a job more than a few months. Must look terrible on a resume to have 20 different jobs in 4 years.

In a strange way I admire someone who has had 19 jobs in 4 years and manages to get a 20th. That must be some serious charisma.

I'm not making fun of her, I just mentioned a character I find funny. I thought it was obvious and hope she didn't take it that way.

Why would you assume I'm making fun of her job? It's just a SNL reference.

After the 2-person backlash, I need to make sure you know what I was talking about. You do, right?

I knew it was an SNL reference. I just didn't know the best way to reply to it, so I just gave the comment a thumbs up and moved on. Sorry for the confusion.

Man B who wouldn't like an extra $2k a month. Although you have an opportunity to choose between working and staying home you want to keep your independence by finding a career and/or furthering your education. Once you give up your right to independence consider the relationship over.

Why would that mean the relationship is over once they give up their right to independence?

      • NorthStar

From personal experience, once you give up your right to independence it will and can be used against you for personal satisfaction and to have complete control over the other person. It's unhealthy and will cause relationship issues in the near future.

If you are with a person that would use that against you its probably better not to be with them anyway. With this trait its not good to stay with them because they would manipulate you.

You're right, situations like this occur every day, and by the time you realize you're in one, it's too late you then have to put your life back together while someone is financially manipulating you.

As someone who’s removed from the “dating game” the second man’s offer sounds like a less extreme version of the arrangement in 50 Shades of Grey. Sounds good on paper but as the saying goes “free comes with a dick up your ass”, likely literally in that instance. The one who holds the purse strings makes the rules. Not that I am judging any woman (or gay/bi man) who chooses such an arrangement, it works for some people.

Man A sounds like a much better partner. Tell him to do half the housework, clean the kitchen and play soccer with the kids.

You’ll find out what a healthy relationship is like.

True, I guess when I think of a serious relationship the first thing Im thinking is eventually it leading to children.

Im gonna try to sell you on why thats not the case. When you throw kids into the equation it all changes. The difference is the women make the babies and the milk for the babies. And they also play a vital role for the young because of a special bond between child and mom in the early years. This is something we as humans figured out millenniums ago thats why the man has traditionally been the breadwinner.

We like to think we are so well evolved that this isnt necessary anymore but then you look at the birthrates dropping and also if you send your kid to daycare you're talking $500+ a week. And men statistically make more money (because they do harder and more dangerous jobs) so it makes sense for them to be the ones working. If you want a family it actually makes alot of sense for them to stay home especially in the younger years of your kids life.
