Why are gardening tools orange?

That's the question.... Why is that the most common color in gardening tools?

I've not really noticed this, but I suppose it's because orange contrasts well with green. The contrast is aesthetically pleasant and makes it easy to find your tools if you drop them.

It isn't. I do a lot of gardening and don't own a single orange tool. My drill is orange and my extension cord is orange. But I don't use those for gardening.

And quality tools are made of wood and metal. And those arent really orange things unless painted but you don't want painted tools for gardening in case they chip.

I thought about this way too much.

I work at home depot and you mainly see green, brown, and red.
