Why are there so many drivers that tailgate

Most people that tailgate on the road have a very serious mental problem which many of them really do it on purpose since they really are such Losers to begin with, and they are the real reason why we have so many Accidents today. We really need much more police on the road since they should Not be driving at all which it is very sad that this Law is really Never enforced at all.

    I have 2500 HD truck with a heavy duty rear bumper with spring loaded bumper supports, therefore I just slam on my brakes. They get the ticket and the smashed front end. I get to laugh and a little war paint on my bumper with no damage.

      Stop lying. The only thing your mommy will let you drive is your tricycle. You couldn't handle a 2500 truck as a passenger, let alone a driver.

    It is very sad that there are very dangerous people on the road these days that are very spiteful when it comes to tailgating which many of them really do it on purpose since there is really No need to drive like that since there is a passing lane on the left. These type of people should have their License taken away from them since they are a real Hazard on the road which many of us that really do know how to drive are at Risk. And many of them speed a lot as well.

      What's the point of asking the question if you are just going to answer it yourself? Or were you just adding more info?

      I typically find people tailgate when you have an asshat in the left lane(passing lane) going the same spend as everyone in the right lane and they wont get over. I do tailgate the shit out of those people.

      Because there are so many of us who are already doing 72 in a 55 zone, and we've got someone right behind us who would rather be doing 85. In a 55 zone!

    The simple answer is that they are pussies who never learned how to put the petal to the metal and pass another car. They're afraid to pass, so they try to intimidate you into going faster. Pussies.

    Personally, I feel like if I am going at least 5 over the speed limit already, even in the left lane, I don't think I should have to get over unless there is an emergency vehicle. No one should have to risk getting a 2-3 hundred dollar ticket or more just because someone behind them wants to go 5 miles per hour faster and is too lazy to pass on the right.

    I used to go 10, 15, or 20 miles over until I got a ticket. Not worth it getting somewhere just a few minutes earlier. And in areas with lights, it doesn't even help you unless you speed like 20 over (which is ridiculous on city streets). The lights are designed to be most efficient at the speed limit.

    But hey you know... if someone wants to tailgate... then so be it. If something happens, it's going to be their fault, and most likely they won't get to their destination much faster.

    I'm tempted to say that tailgating is a macho thing. Though looking in my rearview mirror, I see that often those who hang on my rear bumper are little old grey haired grannies.
