Why are you going to college?

I wish we could learn what we needed more so in high school. It is ridiculous to need a degree for some things out there versus the experience.

because in order to get anywhere in this world, you have to be educated and know all this random stuff. that and its not really an option, i mean my parents would make me anyway and i'd also make myself too, cuz like i said, cant get anywhere in life without a college and high school education

Im too poor to afford it and according to Fasfa my mother is rich and should be paying but refuses to pay for anything. So you know im kind of totally fucked. If anyone has a way to acquire more loans that would be lovely.

LOL! There's good and bad. As an undergrad, I think 80% of the students were simply warm paying bodies, to be frank.

Graduation ceremony is in July and where have I got to right now? Living back home with my parents, on the dole and trying to get stopgap employment.
I wouldn't mind leaving home, but I feel like the financial situation is bad enough there, never mind other countries.

I am from england and I really really hate it when they show all these american films where you can see what people REALLY do at college. Take MEAN GIRLS for example. Part of it is real . I started an art-teacher education because it was the "smart thing to do", but quit after 3 months because the longer I stayed, I got more and more unhappy for many reasons.

School is the most conservative institution in existence. More so then Jails or GOP. I went to school to see what not to do. In art school we learned about every artistic element and how to create "good art." Honestly though, I was a way better artist then when I went in. I have since unlearned everything they taught me and now my work is selling. Don't be a fool, UnSchool. Everything they teach you in there you can learn on your own in real life at your own pace and cheaper.

I did two and a half years of college at way too expensive of a school for a degree that would have been SUPER difficult to use in the real world, then I had a mental break-down sort of. I will continue my education at some point but first I want to REALLY know what I want for my life...at least in the financial/fulfillment sense.

I made the huge mistake of going to an art school for college. I missed out on the college life that everyone usually looks forward to, I spent the past 3 years with big headed annoying hipsters and smelly kids. You'd think art boys are sexy and sophisticated, they're really not. They wish they were.
Ughhh art school.... So sick of it, can't wait to graduate. Just a year left to go!!!!!

I think people go to college for all those reasons

im going to college half for the things it gives you (friends for life, education, a degree, a good job) and half for the experience (getting away from home, being independent, partying, trying new things)

I want the experience. Like tygeronherbed, most ppl say college is some of the best yrs of thier life. plus, my dream is to become an archeologist and travel the world. And I deffinitely cant do that without a colloge education. sooooo yea.

i love college! im having the literal best time of my life.
