Okay so my friend is about to get into a relationship with a beautiful woman, and he hasn't had much experience with women so naturally he's really excited. So why on earth am I envious of this great development in his life why aren't I genuinely filled with joy I want to be, but I can't lie to myself I'm envious.

    It's perfectly natural, and you should give yourself some credit for being honest with yourself about your feelings.

    Now you just have to beware of the temptation to undermine whatever happens between the two of them by pointing out her imperfections and getting all bent out of shape when he wants to spend time with her rather than you. It's a fact of life that friendships change when people get into relationships.
