Why do i still smell?

I practice good enough hygiene and I consider myself a clean person. The only problem is: my armpits stink. All of the time. I wear deodorant and perfume, shower regularly, and when I'm in the shower I scrub my armpits until they hurt. I shave my armpits regularly in case the smell is trapped in the hair, but they still stink. I rarely ever sweat, that's how I've always been. I do everything I can to fix them, but I just can't. It's gotten to the point where I don't want to go places for the fear of people smelling me. I can't change my diet because I have ARFID so I don't really know what to do. Is it normal for this to happen? Am I doing something wrong?

It could be a medical issue. Maybe your general practitioner can refer you to a specialist that deals with that. Maybe dermatologists do, but I'm Not sure. Your GP will know who to send you to to determine if there is a medical reason

I knew this dude named Michael who was like this. He had to shower atleast twice a day because he would smell like fermented ass if he didnt. If he only showered once that day you could tell. Idk what was going on with his genetics. He also looked 45 by the time he was 14 he already was completely bald on top and had chest hair lol

It’s probably not even noticeable to anyone else

Maybe its not noticeable to others. This happens sometimes. But go to ur GP . And if u don't have anyone to ask ask ur GP to smell ur armpits. Feel sorry foe you. But with peace and love i say things are NEVER as bad as they seem.

  • You can still smell because you have a nose

I once had a Pentecostal church pastor claim that that's one of the signs that one is possessed by evil spirits.

I have the same issue and use special deodorant. I really hate it that its like this. Perhaps its hormonal. Permement BO is part of a medical condition I believe. For me baking soda deodorant helps

It might be your diet. I’ve noticed that people who eat a lot of onions and garlic have stinky sweat.

I don't really eat either of those, but changing my diet isn't really an option because I have ARFID so it's a bit harder for me

Some people claim deodorant just makes you stink more, some granola hippies have advice for what to use that’s better I’m sure

Also, if it bothers you enough, you can get Botox injections in your armpit that reduces sweating and odor. You get them redone like every 6 months

Interesting, I'll look more into that!! I hate needles and shots so I don't think Botox is an option, but the other thing might work!!

Drink 4 liters of water a day. Pretreat the underarms of your laundry with mechanics hand cleaner a day before you do the laundry. Google up "armpit detox". It seems acidic skin causes fewer problems.

It could be my diet, but I have ARFID so it's a bit hard to change my eating habits

Fill a bath with very hot water. Empty a box of teabags into the water and leave for about half hour or until the water is cool enough to get in. Give it a good stir. Get in the bath and submerge yourself as much as possible but definitely make sure your armpits are underwater. Stay in the bath for at least half hour. Next take a shower, you will need it. Get dried and dressed and carry on as normal, repeat the process 2 more times about a week apart for each time. This will cure excessive BO and you should be able to carry on with just a normal daily shower and use of deodorant.

    • My dumb ass would put sugar in the tub as well

Would you recommend green tea or regular black tea?

you wouldn't need the sugar, you're already sweet 😎

Just regular tea. I’m not sure if green tea has the same levels of acid and antioxidants and it’s these that will kill the bacteria causing the BO.

I use Degree and when I'm not I'm using Dove, so I don't think that's the problem, but thanks!!

I sweat horribly too and found Dove made absolutely no difference either. I’ve found a combination of Shield soap and Mitcham roll-on deodorant keeps mine under control for the most part. Wearing clothes that don’t fit so tightly to the armpit helps. People say shaving your armpits doesn’t affect the smell but I find they’re less swampy. Also find the disabled loo at work, it will typically have a sink inside the cubicle so you can clean off your sweat during the day, I’ve had to do that more times than I’d like to admit.

Maybe, thing is that's a bit harder for me because I have ARFID. Maybe it is because of my diet and how few foods I have? i don't know

Are you using a deodorant that’s also an antiperspirant? Because deodorant doesn’t do anything is you’re just sweating it off.

I am using an antiperspirant that claims to last 48 hours but I put it on daily.
