Why do many immigrants seem to hate their host country, yet decide to stay?

I've noticed that a lot of immigrants in general, not everyone of course but a lot of them, seem to hate the country they currently reside in with a passion. They have dual citizenship, so why do they even bother to stay if they think it sucks? I don't get it.

  • Muslims are fucking terrible for this. We get a barrage of "refugees" entering our country and then believe their culture should be the dominant one here.

I have to admit, the only first hand experience I have of people complaining a lot about their new country, has been from Pakistani Muslims in the UK. But it doesn't mean that they are all like that. I knew plenty who absolutely loved it in the UK - they were mostly women.

I think the ones who don't like, or respect Western culture should just be forced to leave, and NEVER allowed back.

There's also this thing called force migration when they have to leave because of war zone or climate, etc. They usually have no choice but to stay- for survival since their homeland is destroyed.

  • Because no country is perfect?

I've noticed before that I do my fair share of bitching about America (the south in particular) despite my being a native of both. That being said, I still feel a tad defensive whenever yankees come down here and complain, or whenever people who plainly are not native to this country demand that things be done the very same way in which they were done in the very same countries that these people have left behind. I must always remind myself to be reasonable, and remember that people have a right to complain and express themselves and their opinions, and that I should focus on the content of their complaints rather than the nature of the person making the complaint. If an immigrant goes through the trouble of becoming a citizen of my country, he has every right to complain about shit, just like the rest of us who live here and bitch about things our government does every day. In fact, for some of these people, they probably never got the right to bitch in some of their home countries, since they might have been more repressive than America.

I'm not a fan of people leaving their country of origin, and complaining about the culture of their host country. I don't really care for people coming to the United States, and refusing to learn to speak English. I especially don't like people coming to Germany, and complaining that they don't like Oktoberfest! The sort of people who sexually assaulted women in front of the Cologne Cathedral on New Year's Eve a few years back should never be allowed to seek refuge in Germany, or anywhere else!

I have known a German guy who doesn't like Oktoberfest. According to him, it gets pretty debauched - it's not just trendy music and a few too many beers, which is what I'd thought it would be. The most seasoned partygoers drink so much that they just urinate under the tables and carry on drinking, and are too intoxicated to care.

Because it's all they know/ the want to make it better. The latter is better than the former.

Africa has always been a clusterfuck.

Update: Misread the question. Thought it was talking about why do some people hate their country yet choose to stay.

Because they are ungreatful pricks. If it's so bad, go back and have fun in your decay.

A lot of immigrants are very greatful and happy, but the rest shouldn't even be here tbh. They are the ones who commit petty crimes and causes chaos because I guess that's how they enjoy living.

You don't have to be a criminal to not enjoy a host country...

I live in Germany and I'm a car salesman and have a small business... but I don't love Germany the same way I love Bulgaria.
I don't hate Germany, but it will never be home.
And once I've reached the minimum pension years and have a dual citizenship, I can go back home to Bulgaria and start new business ventures.

So why am I here? Money. The same reason most people leave their home country.

With that said, I do agree with you on people who never stop complaining about their host country, while living a decent life.

Yup, money. Sad but true. That's how my husband and I ended up in Australia - you make way more money for doing exactly the same job, plus houses are cheaper. It all adds up.

What u think bout that teacher who got beheaded in france trying to teach his students the importance of free speech? He showed a comic book of mohammad in class (muslim countries have death penalty for drawing mohammad) His head was cut off in public. He was a big supporter of muslim refugees and really liberal. Then all muslim countries boycotted french products because the french government refuse to bring criminal charges on the comic book makers because free speech is a western value. They do come in and demand the government change to accommodate their beliefs.

I'm a British immigrant. As a Brit, I tend to be called an 'expat' rather than an 'immigrant' in common parlance, but that's probably only because I'm from the UK rather than somewhere less economically developed (let that discrepancy sink in...).

I have a love-hate relationship with the European country I'm staying in at the moment and I can well understand how an expat of any nationality could hate a host country. I'm here for economic reasons partly.
