Why do poor people screw each other over?

So it logically makes no sense but a lot of poor people screw each other over. Same with homeless. It makes more sense to work as a community but people go out of thier way to tear everyone else down. Why not help everyone succeed so you can succeed. I become more disgusted everyday with humanity. I keep having poor freinds trying steal my money since they refuse to make thier own. Why are these people so disgusting

poor people have to constantly find new ways to get money, and eventually they don't care about the means, or who they hurt in the process. some rich people do the same thing, which i think is the most disgusting. at least the poor people have a real reason.

    • I literally was in the homeless shelter and was helping everyone else find employment and housing. Than I got housing and left. I was disowned by family who basically had me for free house labor. I literally never done this self centered bullshit.

well you're abnormal because most people wouldn't do this. i agree it's self centered and i could never do it, but i get why some would. i'd like to think in general humans are better than this though

Because it’s easier to screw the poor than to screw the rich

Think about your bank account going down to zero, and having no foreseeable income.

    It a society issue.

A lot of the poor and/or homeless feel they have been screwed over by society. They have no fault or say in it society just hates them and has it in for them.

They don't see anybody as their equal or that has it as bad as them. If you have anything $1 or even a positive attitude, you are part of that society and therefore part of the problem as far as they are concerned.

It takes a lot of work to break that mentality if it's existed long enough I'm not sure it can ever fully be changed. Even a lottery winner who was once poor or homeless may still feel, "do unto others before they do unto you".

I stopped at a gas station the other day that's near my city's homeless shelter. The gas station always has extra security and keeps the bathroom doors locked to discourage anyone from shooting up in there. There was a homeless man waiting near the entrance asking people if they had any change

I feel really bad in situations like this. I genuinely want to help, but you hear time and time again that giving a panhandler money is almost guaranteed to be funding their next hit. If people held up signs with what their needs are (toiletries, a sleeping bag, a tent, etc.) then I'd be totally fine going and picking up one of the items they need and bringing it back to them

As is, I don't know how to legitimately help people in need and it makes me sad

I used to know a priest who would buy McDonald's gift card, and hand them out to the homeless.

I agree, I gave a person a sandwich and drink one day because he was holding a sign that said hungry. He didn't turn it down but you could tell it was like an insult and he still asked if I could give him some money as well.

Some people are sick and fed up of constantly trying to make it the 'proper' way and there comes a time when you snap into the mentality that if efforts do not pay then I'm gonna take what I need and fuck other people.

Poverty is a disease and its consequences is delinquency. I do not say that it should be unpunished but I understand why some people no longer make efforts. They're just tired.
