Why do so many bald people have goatees?

It seems that if a bald person has facial hair, 95% of the time it's a goatee. There's nothing wrong with the look, I'm just curious how it became kind of the go-to style for people with no hair

    I'm guessing they want to have some sort of hair and if their head has failed them the face is the next best thing.
