Why do women cut their hair shorter as they age?
I believe a lot of peoples hair gets weaker with age due to hormonal drops so if it were grown out it would just break off after a short length anyway. I’ve seen a couple older ladies with longer hair but it always looks “witchy” like really wirey/frizzy so that could be another reason
Shorter hair is easier to take care of, and as your hair thins, weakens, and/or becomes damaged with age and/or declining health it may become necessary to cut it shorter to keep it looking healthy.
Shorter hair is easier to clean than longer hair. In general, it just requires less maintenance.
Many women experience a thinning of the hair as they age.
A shorter cut hides it somewhat.
Old peoples bones ache and they cant pick up and wash all that butt length witchy gray hair
Boomers do this and some of gen x, not entirely sure why other than easier to maintain but I don't think millenials and gen z will when they get older.
I'm surprised by this comment. There are more millennials and gen z girls with short hair now then there ever was boomers or x. They all seem to want to advertise they are open to, supportive of, or part of the LGBT community.
Maybe they will grow it longer when they get older. The upkeep and just trying to keep it looking healthy I would say are the main reasons. There are only a few 70 year olds that can pull off a good look with waist length hair(Cher).
People my age wear it short. I'm 24. I'm pretty certain plenty will be wearing it short like that once we are old. It's crazy to me
