Why do women pluck their eyebrows?

I understand the media has told us all that body hair is masculine even though I know it's natural. I can understand why women get them tapered, but why do they have to pluck them until their almost gone and then stencil them in. Do they realize that makes them look gaunt and sickly like cancer patients who just underwent chemotherapy and then put on wigs to hide their hair loss? Do they not know eyebrows also signify youth and vitality?

Its all part and parcel of this crap that has been ingrained into women; that their looks are unacceptable unless they conform to a certain standard. Just brainwashing, like religion.
I have never known a woman who can make herself look better by painting her face to look like a fucking clown. Pink cheeks, bright red lips (is she a vampire; is that blood or lipstick?) and that stinky powder stuff; gag! Then some say, "I'm wearing so little make up, you can't even tell I'm wearing it." Then why put it on? Or the other good one, "I just can't go outside without putting on my face." Putting on your face? What the hell is that on the front of your head, your ass? LOL
Sorry, rant over, delete if you wish.

No, it's all good. I agree that also there is such a thing as wearing too much makeup.

They don't. Those are actually aliens. They invented the fiction that some human women pluck their eyebrows as a cover so they can live among us.

Me either. But you answered your own questions. Its societal pressure, mostly. In some parts of India, uni-brows are considered feminine and beautiful. Not so here. :)

I happen to like bushy eyebrows and unibrows. I like hairy Indian women with hairy bushes, hairy legs, hairy arms, hairy butts, hairy armpits, and girlie sideburns. :)

They're a lot of things in society with its beauty standards that make zero sense. I've plucked mine in exception of Trichomania.

You were right on the money with your first sentence. I couldn't agree more.

LOL! Thanks for your opinion. Um, I've accidentally over-plucked, yikes! It does look hideous,I agree. Soooo, why do women pluck eyebrows? Mostly to define shape and tidy up around them. Honestly, there are plenty of men who have caught on to this grooming utility. Why not. I like people to be well groomed, myself. But, yeah, don't overdo it! Eyebrow shaping honestly requires a professional at first. Its an art.

Why not just leave them in their natural state? The thicker your eyebrows are, the more spruce you look.

Then if we let them grow. You boys/men will then comment how bushy are eyebrows are lol :-)

I happen to like bushy eyebrows; thank you very much. I like bushy everything on a woman except for a beard or a mustache.

I don't pluck or wax my eyebrows, I tweeze them or get them threaded.

Why not just leave them as is?

I do that too sometimes. It all depends on my mood.

I don't pluck them til their almost gone and then draw em on with with some cheap dime store eyeliner pencil! I hate that nasty gansta bitch look. *Gags*

I basically tweeze them myself or get them threaded to clean up the stray hairs and emphasize an arch that is relatively natural. I stopped getting them waxed, because waxing tends to make hair grow back finer, lighter and sparser which isn't what I want for my eyebrows. I also do use an eyebrow pencil on ocassion, but not in a severe way. I like an eyebrow pencil with a little round brush for blending on one end. I buy either Lancome or Chanel eyebrow pencil in a color that matches my hair like soft brown or auburn not some severe looking, unnatural jet black.

I think thicker, well groomed eyebrows are very beautiful; Indian women have some of the most beautiful eyebrows in the world! I enjoy wearing and applying eye makeup, because its artistic when done tastefully.

In conclusion they're my eyebrows so I do as I please.
        :-)

I agree with the last sentence. Indian women are very beautiful. I like it when women period not only don't wax, trim, or pluck their eyebrows, but also when they don't shave their beavers, legs, armpits, arms, and butts. I actually like hairy Indian and Pakistani girls with hairy legs and hairy butts. I think they're sexy. I also like girlie sideburns. :)

It makes your eyes look bigger and gives your face a clean, polished look.

Some can argue that, but I think it makes you look emaciated personally.

If I don't pluck in between my brows I'd still have a uni. But I still have my sideburns. Shaving it seems weird and looks manly. So im left with long sideburns. And i'm okay with that now.

There's nothing wrong with girlie sideburns at all. I think they're sexy.
