Why does modern music.suck?

I don't know about other genres but modern rap makes me feel brainless. It's all the same beat and the same lyrics. Why dies it have to be like this? Why can't people just have talent?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Music is actually better than it ever has been. There's literally something for everyone as long as you're willing to look for it.

With that being said, the stuff you hear on the radio is specifically designed to be as generic as possible to appeal to as many people that it can. Modern popular rappers are targeting rap music enthusiasts as a target demographic; they're trying to reach teen and young adult demographics. Which, by all accounts, will regularly use the language and slang that modern rap features.

I see what your talking about but most rappers back in the 90s where rapping about what happened in their lives. Rap now just feels different

Soft-handed fools with spotless truck beds who couldn’t cinch a colt if their life depended on it took over country music and now all they sing about is wanting to suck off cops

Rappers focus on drugs and killing eachother over dumbass ego battles instead of fighting the power and pulling their people out of poverty

And ohmygod every song these days is so goddamn doom and gloom

Because social media and games have corrupted the younger generation and drained the potential talent pool.

Because we have untalented trash ass so called "rappers" that are dominating the rap industry. The rap industry allows just anybody into the industry. Hell, I'm convinced that even I could get in if I wanted to. But because I know I can't rap, I won't do it. If only these idiots were self-aware and didn't think that they have talent just because they use autotune....

    You are just old.

Sucks that my "golden age" was 2012 electronic music. That stuff slapped different than it does now.

Imagine carving stone and shit and think ah yeah that's a good place to stop. No way someone could interpret this as doomsday. Welp time to see a slave sacraficed so the sun keeps shining :D

    Art is subjective.

It's not music. It's just a bunch of irritating noise.

I think because it's not so much about having talent anymore as it is about your image and 'aesthetic' because that's what sells. I can't say it particularly applies to one genre more than another, it probably applies to all music. But then again, music evolves over time. I think if disco never died, we'd all be ripping our hair out lol

anyone can make music with a computer and social media. Its not about being good anymore. Its about who can shit the most.

I remember reading something deniro said about making movies in the 70s and that was that you wouldn’t even wear a watch on set, no distractions, there was a shared feeling of respect to the medium, that you were creating art. devotion to the craft.
I think mainstream rap evolved to the point of de-evolution. Mumble rap with good produced beats. It just got too easy and people were in it for the wrong reasons, it sold out.
If you like rap music though there’s still great artists underground or on smaller labels

Underground is where it’s at bro

70s Was probably the best decade for movies, IMO.

Popular music has been declining in quality for the past 50 years, according to science.
