Why does my cat run to me with her food in her mouth?

When I am in bed sleeping or lying down, I hear my cat running up the stairs super fast, comes to my room and meows with apiece of meat in her mouth then she drops it on my clean carpet and eats it in front of me. She even does this with meat she doesn't easily eat from her bowl. Is she just trying to show me she's eating her food?

my cat does that 7
my cat doesn't do that 8

The only thing my cat brings me is dead birds...or dying :\

Ew she used to do that when she was a bit of a hunter. She used to bring in live mice or birds for me to chuck up and down the stairs...thats her favourite place to play. I used to try saving the birds but she unintentionally used to pierce her teeth into the hearts so I have a grave yard of birds and mice in my back garden now thanks to her.

You're cat is paying you tribute when he or she does that. It's a sign that kitty is loving, and honoring you. Maybe you could channel kitty's desire to provide for you via backyard hunting into something constructive like playing fetch or using a feather fishing rod type toy.

I just wish he wouldn't honer me in my bed, you know the horse head scene in the godfather? Tone down the blood and change it to the upper half of a starling and that happened to me not that long ago

He's a Bengal mix so he's high energy we've always got his mouse on a string toy out to play with him to make sure he gets good exercise in the house as well as us both finding it fun but no matter how much he plays and tires out it doesn't slow down his hunting, he's just got a ton of energy, I can't really complain about it though, it's a sign of affection and it's all part of being a cat owner, I knew that going in, with the joy he gives me I can put up with a few dead birds :)

My theory after 15+ years of owning cats is that the cat sees you as the head honcho boss cat, so is therefore submitting to you by dropping chunks of meat in front of you.

She is also showing how good she is at hunting prey down, even if it came from the supermarket.

I saw this on the discovery channel. She's mocking you because you're a sloppy eater

Some cats like attention or being petted while they're eating.
