Why does my teacher restrict my ability to do art

So my art teacher when teaching won’t let me design it in sharpies, literally doesn’t want me to and says that, we are doing color theory, artwork doesn’t matter for the project just the color. That was two days ago, and today we were doing a project Digitally. I do better work on the computer with a tablet then a mouse but he wouldn’t let me use one, when like it is a smaller one so it’s would take space and etc. He didn’t even give me a good excuse. Just that this is his room. Technically it’s also another teachers room, who the other teacher was happy to help me with the new tablet. I color things in sharpie for outlines to help with color ideas, as I forget and change designs quickly, and it’s my color style in how’ve I outline. He literally is not allowing me the mediums to do my best work I possibly can. And when I’m stressed he won’t let me take a break and do my own drawing, as doodles help me to calm down. He literally said if you need to calm down and feel leas stressed he would let you.

Another teacher I had limited my mediums too but He let me use tablets after I was done, he let the kids draw their own personal stuff when they were done or stuck.

I personally right now have no want for art. I have art challenges to submit stuff for but I lost all will to draw because I just can’t. If I have to deal with him next shop week I’m going to have a total nervous breakdown instead of just the two anxiety attacks I have had so far. I honestly want to hit him but obviously that’s a bad idea. I argue with him about these things and that’s the reason I have anxiety attacks, as I get anxious when I talk to people and they act overly negative towards me or what im doing.

    That sucks but there is nothing you can do. Just do what you want when you're at home and abide by his rules in his class. I know it's annoying having to follow rules when there seem to be no logical reasons for them, but is his class. Good luck

    So the weakest way to start a sentence is with the word 'So'. But that aside, you sound high maintenance and I don't mean that in any good way.

    Focus on becoming less fragile. And try to respect your teachers and do your assignments properly. One last tip: forcing yourself into 'the mood' to make art is a skill you have to work on. You won't make it as an artist otherwise.

    Lemmie tell you something.. I am a heavy artist and I love to draw. I doodle on school work and in my ceramics and animation class. So screw that teacher, If he doesn't want you to do your little doodles, Do them anyways, Bring a extra sketchbook if you have to. I draw on my phone with Medibangpaint sometimes. Drawing keeps me calm and happy. If your art teacher is really strict about it... Just go to your school councilor about it, Sit down, and talk about it.

    I'm studying to be an art teacher, and can tell you that your teacher doesn't sound like he's teaching well. Try to find other places/times/ways to practice the art you like, don't let him ruin it for you. Try to find a way to enjoy his assignments if you can. It might also be worth it to talk to the teacher, he might have a reason for wanting you to not draw in sharpie and maybe you can find some sort of agreement. Generally, if you are polite and honestly explain yourself to teachers, they respond well. If not, they are not good teachers and there's not much you can do other than bringing it up with the higher ups.

    Try to work on doing art in any mood. A good way to do this is what I like to call "punk" art, which is like moving your hand along with how your feeling and not feeling restrained (in the same way punk rock does kinda)

    Draw your own stuff after you get home. If you manage your independent desires, you will stay motivated.

    If you are highschool there is often polices against technology in school. Also sharpies have been legally banned in some places because graffiti art.

    I will say, I think forcing you to use a mouse rather than a tablet is silly - a tablet is soo much better for digital art, I don't know why you would use a mouse.

    But for the rest? It's good to experiment with different mediums and develop your style in different ways. It may be frustrating, but trying different techniques with different tools will help you grow as an artist and help you develop your own style in your preferred mediums.

    And just as a piece of advice from one artist to another, whenever you can afford it, try copics over sharpies if you can get into them. They're archival and wont fade and are fucking amazing markers.
