Why is national pride okay but not gay pride?
I've noticed that a lot of people who complain about LGBT pride events are the same people who support national pride, like being American or British or anything else. I'm not interested in LGBT pride events, but it seems hypocritical when people criticize them by saying that you shouldn't be proud of something that ultimately says nothing about what kind of person you are, when the same applies to national pride. You didn't so anything special by just being born somewhere, nor does it say anything about you. It's also a lie, when you consider that day to day, people complain and hate their fellow countrymen all the time. At work, neighbours, even family. Or not caring about needy people in their own country. It also encourages collective coattail riding. Like in the UK, people talk about how they're proud what 'we' did about something, when actually they had nothing to do with it or it's innovation or weren't even born yet.
