Why is national pride okay but not gay pride?

I've noticed that a lot of people who complain about LGBT pride events are the same people who support national pride, like being American or British or anything else. I'm not interested in LGBT pride events, but it seems hypocritical when people criticize them by saying that you shouldn't be proud of something that ultimately says nothing about what kind of person you are, when the same applies to national pride. You didn't so anything special by just being born somewhere, nor does it say anything about you. It's also a lie, when you consider that day to day, people complain and hate their fellow countrymen all the time. At work, neighbours, even family. Or not caring about needy people in their own country. It also encourages collective coattail riding. Like in the UK, people talk about how they're proud what 'we' did about something, when actually they had nothing to do with it or it's innovation or weren't even born yet.

Why would you be proud about sucking a cock? National pride strengthens nations and communities; it gives people something to rally against so they don't get fucked over in an invasion and so they can defend what's theirs.

Gay pride celebrates people dressing up as bondage dogs and sniffing ketamine off your mate's ballsack.

I explained in the actual question why national pride makes no sense, and doesn't strengthen people. It also contributes to wars in the first place.

People are supposed to be loyal to their nations; it's part of living in a society. Homosexuality, on the other hand, is nothing more than a perverted disposition that is actually bad for society.

Who are you to tell people they're supposed to be proud of their nations? Proud of what? Why are you proud of something you did nothing to gain?

Notice that I said nothing of pride. In general, loyalty to one's nation is often conflated with pride.

All evils are bad for society, and they effect that society negatively, whether they directly affect any given member of society or not.

Because theres difference in being proud of your country and proud of your sexuality. Nobody is patriotic to being straight because its not that important.

Whats next? "Im proud to be left handed" the shits just lame.

Imagine saying gays need pride. What are you proud of? Sucking cock and taking it up the ass? Its not that important. Neither is being straight. No one cares about your sexuality if you leave ppl alone.

Being gay has been a huge focus of shame, discrimination and even murder. They didn't make it an issue in the first place. Homophobes did. Tell the people who are disowned, imprisoned or executed for being gay that "no one cares about your sexuality".

I advocate for making pride days based off of absolutely everything since it pisses everyone off so much. "You can't be prideful just because you're gay!" Yes, I can. Nothings stopping me. I also want a pride for people who like the color blue, people who shower once every other day, people who paint their toenails, people who have brown hair... everything.

We all should realize that holidays are a social construct and hold no real meaning. Pride month is something that some people enjoy, and that's cool. I don't take part in pride month even though I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community, but I don't give a fuck if other people want to. I quite literally do not give two shits if a gay couple wants to walk down the street with a rainbow flag once a year.

What about the REALLY gay pride parades. Like the ones donning bdsm gear but handing out candy to kids kind. That steps way over the line for me.

Gayness as just a state of being? Fine yeah they are just like the rest of us. Gayness as a fetish though being celebrated in the streets is just simple debauchery.

I like anal, doesnt mean I'm handing buttplug shaped balloons to kids.

I don't like the BDSM pride parades, I think it's pretty gross. I think everyone has the right to enjoy whatever they want, but that doesn't mean it's okay to go into a public setting and do things like that because not everyone would consent to seeing it. People shouldn't feel like they can go around screaming about how much they love cock and ball torture or some shit in the streets.

However, if a group of gay people walk around dressed in pride gear, holding hands, kissing, I don't see any harm in that. Being gay isn't inherently sexual, the people making it sexual are the problem. Pride should basically be a celebration of loving someone, or loving yourself despite the fact that you don't conform to what society deems normal. Anything else should be kept behind closed doors.

That's why I call bullshit on a good chunk of the lgbt community. They have the bdsm parades and treat them the same as a simple pride parade. Like of course normal people are going to dislike the normal pride parade if the bdsm one is set up and supported by the same people. I'm to the point of just rejecting the entire god damn practice.

Like seriously just rebrand it to the love parade and have straight and homosexuals in attendance. 100% adult orientated of course but nothing more obscene than mardi gras spring break. (Let's be honest that's not a high bar but it's a good line)

    Neither should be celebrated.

It’s not an achievement to be born in a specific country or attracted to the same sex.

LGBTQ pride isnt a celebration, its a way to show its real and that one refuses to be ashamed of it or allow discrimination. It wouldnt need to exist if the world wasnt still full of homophobes who want to dictate whom other people love or sleep with and punish them if they dont do as those people say.

Nationalism should be encouraged... if your country is actually worth celebrating. Not saying iran should be celebrating how progressive they are as a country.

America +commonwealths and most of europe (germany can take the nationalism part easy) have taken the most forward steps in human rights and economic growth, they are countries who's cultures are worth celebrating.

Nationalism is fine unless your country is objectively a bad goverment.

Nationalism is a scourge, all tribalism is outdated garbage. Having countries or even identifying by race is redundant.

Redundant but ultimately still needed. Why hasnt all the world switched to english?

People like their culture. And the vast majority of the world is racist.

Liking a culture has nothing to do with pride. I explained why it makes no sense to be patriotic because it doesn't actually mean anything in reality. Collective credit for things you never did makes no sense, and people hate people in their own country. Being from the same country as someone adds up to nothing.

National pride isn't very smiled upon. Nowadays, feeling anything but disdain for your own country is is tantamount to Fascism

Yeah, I agree with everything you said. Plus LGBT pride exists because there are lots of people who say that LGBT people should be ashamed or that they'll go to hell, so there is a legitimate reason/need for LGBT pride, but there isn't really for national pride.

Ppl in the past like Henry Ford had national pride and almost single handedly created a middle class when he could have paid slave wages.

Now its all about profits. No one cares about their own people anymore. People dont care about their nation only themselves.

You don't need to have national pride in order to do the right thing though. You could pay people good wages because you care about people in general, not because you care only about people from your country.

National pride = nationalism. On one end you have globalism and the other end is nationalism. The ppl running the country are globalists and have shipped the manufacturing overseas because they have no loyalty to any one country (no national pride). That is a problem for us. Wages go down. They make more money. If there is no national pride ppl just sell out there own country. JFK once said "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." If everyone had this patriotic ideology our country would be a lot better off.

They shipped the manufacturing overseas because it's cheaper there. The Chinese government have turned their workforce practically into slaves, and these corporations are taking advantage of that. They're doing this because they just don't care about people in general, regardless of what country they're from, more so than that they don't care about their own country. But if they did care about people regardless of what country they're from, then they wouldn't enable this Chinese slavery, and would instead pay their own country's workers a decent wage.

I cant argue with that. That is true.

But also look at Japan its arguably the most nationalistic country in the world. Even the homeless wake up and clean the parks. Crime is almost non existent. They really care about their own ppl and their country. I wish the USA was more like this.
