Wife forced to wear short skirts

My wife’s female boss makes my wife wear very short skirts to work often with sheer blouses. She is sales representative for insurance company and she has to wear this outfit whenever she has to conclude a contract with some male customers. Her female boss dresses like this too and she calls it “secret to our success”. I like short skirts but the length of her work skirts seems a little bit inappropriate. Is it normal?

    Yeah that's called sexual discrimination. You can't force someone to dress like that, your wife could probably report it. Imagine if the boss was a man and it might put it into perspective some more.

    When I worked as a temp legal secretary in the 1990's one fuddy duddy firm told me I had to wear skirts. I said I would when they made the blokes wear skirts too and that this requirement was sexual discrimination.

    They were not impressed but kept me on because I was a damn good legal secretary.

    Some organizations have specific and rigid dress codes and many have no choice but to conform to it. The organization won't change that for the complain of a single (or even a few employees), there must be a united opinion against it. I agree dress codes are stupid, its your productivity that matters. But unless majority of your coworkers have the same opinion as you, there is not much you can do to change the norms of your organization.

    I feel that your wife shouldn’t have to do that.
    Also how do you feel about men seeing her that way? Do you think she likes it or feels uncomfortable?

      I feel queasy about it. I like it when she wears seductive clothes but I prefer when I am with her that time. She is used to wear this kind of clothes but not at the work. So sometimes she is hesitant if her clothes are appropriate for common daily wearing.

      Yes, she wears them. Tan color mostly.

    It would make a big difference to me whether the boss was male or female. If the boss was male I wouldn't go for it at all but since it's a female idk what to tell you. Is the boss a lesbian?

    What does your wife think? Does she have a problem with wearing short skirts to work or is this about you trying to be controlling?

      Generally she doesn’t mind. She has sometimes problem in case of bad weather, when its cold outside or raining.

        But your post wasn’t written in such a way as to indicate that it was a problem when the weather is cold. The implications in your post were that this was about being forced to dress in a certain way and therefore being sexually exploited. It seems the only one who really has an issue here is you, but it’s not your body, no one is asking or expecting you to wear a short skirt. Why do so many men think they should be in charge of what their wife/partner wears, it is so arrogant of you to think this way.

    I was required to wear skirts at my last job....no exceptions. I didn't really have a problem with it but I like my job now much better and it doesn't matter if your casual or dressed for success.

    I have a cousin who is an insurance agent, and she doesn't dress like that. I know I certainly wouldn't dress like that, because I just prefer to wear pants.
