I'm sure my dog would do all she could to totally degrade and humiliate our corpses prior to consuming us.
She already does that when we're alive :(

Once they ran out of food I would want them to eat me if they were starving to death. Until someone found them and took care of them.

Most likely. I think dogs would initially be distressed because you aren't responding to them, but once they get hungry they will do what nature designed them to do; Scavenge to survive. It's nothing personal, it doesn't mean they never loved you, but many animals just don't have the same hang ups about food and death that we do. I'm not sure if a cat would do this, though. They seem to prefer fresh kills over scavenging.

I'm not gonna risk it, ever since I started getting chest pains in the night and then had a heart attack a while ago my dog sleeps outside at night.
If I die in my sleep I'd prefer whoever finds me to not find me chewed on.
Anyone who thinks that their beloved cat or dog wouldn't eat them if they got hungry is delusional.
I think my animal would try to figure out why I wont wake up and start biting me. They do this when I wont get up in the morning.
I think humans would eat you faster then your dog or cat. Humans would be like hey look they are dead, we are stuck.... lets eat them waiting for help. My cats would probably cuddle with my dead body for a good week before they would consider eating me. But I would want them to eat me if they HAD to because I would rather they live than die because I died. They are in my will.
Sometimes if I sleep too long my cats start nibbling at me to see if I'm dead yet. So yeah pretty sure they will eat me when I die.
Well there have been cases where humans stranded and without food have eaten their dead friends to survive so yea I'm sure an animal would do the same. It's just survival.
I dnt rlly like to think about it but the harsh reality is most likely its there natural survival instinct
If you die and the animals have nothing to eat, yes, they will eat YOU! I've read of a lot of people dying at home and not being found for days and when they are found, their cat, dog, ferret or whatever, has partially eaten them. Or, in the case of large dogs, completely eaten them!
No My cat would start scratching my dead body and cry for me to feed him. He already deos when Im asleep. He messes with me when I am asleep though I do not mind since he usually wakes me in the middle of a nightmare.
I own several cats and I know they would eat me although my dogs wouldn't. My parrot wouldn't do anything.
I read somewhere that Dachshunds are the most likely breed to eat you after you die. I don't know if that's true. I could just be spreading rumors. But pets can eat some weird things, why not dead human?
And the way my kitten behaves, I'm pretty sure he would nibble my flesh if he found me dead. Thankfully I don't live alone.
