Windows 7 or 10 for laptop

what's better in your opinion, windows 7 or 10

    Windows 7. The advantages of 10 aren't worth all the problems I've seen with it, sure the ui is flashy and it has the new direct x, but the performance increase is negligible (especially compared to what they promised) and we have had so many issues connecting over LAN or trying to help our friends do things like run older games all because of win10.

    It's like, they added kid gloves to their operating syetem, but in doing so made it hell for people who know how to use computers safely without needing a very invasive constantly there impossible to entirely turn off antivirus.

    Plus the updates are just intrusive as hell and I've gotten advertisements in my laptops start bar...

    Just stick with 7, I know I'll be using it as long as I possibly can.

      The win 10 UI is flashy? :-o
      I find it bland, ugly and boring, it's win 7 that looked so good in fact. I totally regret having "upgraded".

        Heh, fair. It's really not to my taste either but I know a lot of people like it. I'm clinging to 7 as long as I can, and if I ever honestly need 10 for games Ill probably dual boot on a separate hard drive and still keep most of my usage to 7. :P

        Did you do the free upgrade or actually purchase it? If you still have a win7 disk somewhere or can get your hands on one I don't see why you couldn't go back. I took my newest computer when I bought it back down to 7, it came with 10 instaled. One "downgrade" and some upgraded components later and she's a beast. :P

          I took the free upgrade but I have a second hand laptop that came without restore disks or even a restore partition so I can't use the stock Windows 7 DVD as OEM and retail versions don't have a matching product key.

            forgot to add, I don't have the Office 2010 CD either and I'd lose that too if I reinstalled.

        I was forced to upgrade 2 years ago. 7 is great. 8 was lame. 10 is much better now. They finally fixed the update issues and ads etc. For me. Took Forever though 😑. it runs smoothly now too. I'd say either should be ok now. My new games actually run smoother on Windows 10 after the latest update in June. Windows 7 is no longer superior for basic use

    7 is heaven. 10 sucks because of constant updates that can last forever.

    Go with windows 7. Dont take 10.

    Windows 10 is crap. You cant play some old games on it.

    Plus I dont trust bill gates giving it out for free to people. Probaley spying on all of us lol

    For stability and preformance use win7. For updated ui and features use win10.
