Is it normal that I'm a little overexcited about the the winter olympic games in Sochi? I'm an American and I'm not even there I'm just home getting all amped up about it. idk if anyone feels the same please I'd appreciate your input.
No, still alive and well comrade. I lobbed a good hundred molotov cocktails into Putin's seating area, but his security guards took all the impact. The Russian secret police have censored everything, though you should be able to see a red glare on some of the replay videos if you look closely enough.
I think politics is politics, sports is sports. Not with tinted glasses to look at.

Because it's in Russia, and I think it's terrible that Russia is allowed to host the games because the government there get to use it as a huge PR exercise and make a lot of money despite being awfully corrupt and anti-human rights - especially against gay, bi and transgender people. I suppose you could call it a boycott. A lot of my friends are doing it too. It's a shame because I really like the Winter Olympics, but I don't feel right watching it this time.

Yes, the summer and winter Olympics are a great way for countries to come together but also compete.
