Woke up to tribal drumming last night

So, last night was a rough one.
Mainly because I got no sleep after 3am and I went to bed around eh- I dunno 11:30.
I woke up to tribal drumming.

My night pretty much went like this:
Finished feeding/mucking out all the outdoor pens
Turned the horses loose into the nighttime pasture
Fed my dogs and cats.
Ate
Took a shower
Brushed my teeth
Slept till' 3

The drumming wasn't loud, and they sounded like Pow Wow drums. Now, I want you to know before any of you suggest a car or something- I live on a 300 acre ranch just outside of Yarmouth ( Nova Scotia ). My house is right smack dab in the middle of the 300 acres and I can assure you there are NO roads cutting through it. If you've read my bio, I'm part of the Cree community, so maybe it's my ancestors. I totally am open to spiritual comments, but also blunt, realistic comments that will wake me up and say '' Rosalee, you're losing your fucking mind. Shut the fuck up''.

XOXO

This has happened to me once before and I heard shamanic chanting as well. Happened around same time as you. I woke up at 3 and couldnt sleep so I decided to meditate. This is when I heard it. At the same time I felt as though I was floating up and every cell in my body was vibrating and ringing a high pitch sound. Was an amazing, blissful and bizarre experience. One that I cant explain. I felt so happy and refreshed for days after.

That sounds incredible. I'll try meditating.

As incredible as it sounds one thing that you learn from meditating is that meditating isnt about trying to have good experiences. They may or may not happen of their own accord but it must not be the goal. If you sit hoping to have a blissful experience you are going to be very disappointed and give up because most of the time its very difficult, painful, boring etc. If you do have a nice experience let it go. I clung to this for years. It was very hard not to want more. It became a hindrance to the practice. Meditation is all about letting go. Good luck 🙏

  • Got a radio on somewhere? Sometimes when music is quiet all I can hear is the bass and drums when I pay attention.
