Not in places that value their citizens. So basically, any well off nation other than the USA.

        Are you stupid?

And other questions with the answer, "yes".

  • If you're a useless parasite who profits off of labor produced by other people - not normal.

If you have a socially-necessary job that society would very likely suffer greatly without - totally normal.

The more useful and meaningful a job is, the less likely it is to pay well. The less useful and meaningful a job is, the more likely it is to pay well.

Comparison: if corporate lawyers vs trash collectors disappeared over night, which would affect you more over the long run? Considering how important sanitation is to the prevention of the spread of disease, probably the latter!

Hopefully you are not dependent on a government wherever you live and can ideally become a greater worker and do what ever you want.

Depends on what you want out of life and what you mean "just to get by".

My child tried this with me one day. Complaining about cost and not enough money. However, when I suggested turning off his cell phone or disconnecting high speed internet or streaming services, he thought I was crazy. I hadn't even started on a lot of his (to me) extravagant or wasteful expenditures.
    To him they were necessities.

I used to work 70+ hours a week, then I injured my knee and had to drop down to a minimum required 32. That was like half pay. I rearranged a few bills, cut a few expenses, stopped a lot of extravagant spending, like going out to eat every lunch and 2 or 3 evening meals a week. 8 months later I was able to return to normal. I found out I liked my free time more and never went back to 70 hours a week. I do 40 maybe 50 every now and then.
Best thing that ever happened was the injury.

If you're working that much take a look at where you're spending it.

Unfortunately, for a solid segment of the USA population at this time: Yes!

If it really bothers you, then you need to start working smart and finding a way out of the common job trap (jobs are designed for your employers success, not yours).

Its going to take work, its going to require you to learn new knowledge and skills... but many people have figured out how to get to an old normal (or even part time) work schedule while earning enough $ to live a good life.

How to do that is a very individualized topic and virtually all answers or possibilities are specific to a person (there are some generalities - but they don't help by themselves).

I assist people in how to do better in life; and have mentored people in your situation to a much better financial and life situation. I'd be willing to talk if you would like and see if I can assist you at no charge(no guarantees).

I've been doing charity assisting and mentoring for decades; I did start a Life Coaching Business last year (just in time for Covid-19) which has had some success for the more well to do who often are looking for other answers. However, most of my work in these areas is charity as I believe that God placed me on this earth to assist people.
