Would there be less fighting in school if they added prison?

Would there be less fighting in schools if they started adding actual prison sentences? It doesn't seem like children really care about how much trouble they get in at school since they will just get a slap on the wrists. If they started adding actual charges like assault, and battery would it scare children into not doing it? Maybe even have a court system and a trail.

I rather think prison would only create more criminals if these stupid children were sent there. Fighting never solved anything and there is always somebody out there bigger, badder and meaner, so even the bullies get theirs.
My solution is a lot simpler; extermination. Break the rules and injure another human being (or in this case, fellow student) and you forfeit your life. Now that would stop a lot of the problems with the violent youth of today and those who weren't afraid of a consequence like that wouldn't be around very long to hurt very many people. The world has way too many people in it already, so the extermination of a few million bullies, terrorists and psychos would not be much of a loss.

    • Haha I thumbed this up and then got to the extermination part and thought what the fuck? Never mind that thumbs up. Whoops.

  • They do. It's called juvanial detention and there were kids sent there for serious offenses when I went to school.

    • Yes but if they are only sent for serious offenses minor offenses can still occur. MAJOR offenses would be Arseny, shooting up the school, doing something that lead a child to suicide. Should daily beatings really be permitted?

There'd be less fighting if parents just taught their kids some respect and manners. Everything starts at home, after all. As for a prison, it might make some kids more hateful towards society.

I always wonder how the crime rate compares in countries where a person gets their hand chopped off for stealing and similar things....

    • Cutting off a persons hands cripples them for life. That either makes them homeless since they cant work or if you live in the US/UK will spend forever on disability/aid. It makes no sense to cripple a person for minor offenses if you ultimately will just pay for it later. We should save disability for people who need it. Not adding more to it. Also in countries where they have things like welfare they wouldn't have chopping off hands for something minor like theft.

Obviously, you have no understanding of the cultures that cut off a hand for a punishment.
In those cultures the right hand is for eating and the left is for toilet, etc. If the right hand is removed, then that person must use the left for both. This makes them unclean and shunned by their society. A tiny bit more drastic than a loss of work, especially in a country without any social services. It is a death sentence, you moron!

        • In those cultures they don't always have to pay the medical care for them. In a country that has health benefit for the disabled and the injured would not do this. Since they have to pay for this person the rest of their lives.

For one there would be riots over the civil rights of this person, and secondly that's just bad business. Why is a company going to want to pay for a person they themselves crippled?

That would not happen in a country that has benefits. However there is other countries where they can turn you down since you have a missing leg or just look funny. You cant do this in these more entitled country since someone will complain you hurt their civil rights. In the entitled country's they cant even turn you down based on gender. How do you think people would react if they started removing limbs?

            • You really don't understand how the world works do you? Countries that don't give as many rights to workers can get away with this. Countries that give the workers a lot of rights CANT.

The reason is simple. Someone will complain if they are given rights and if they are not they can discriminate for any reason. There is people in other countries who cant get jobs because they have stuff like elephantiasis and told they look funny and would scare away business.

You cant do that in a country that gives the worker the right to sue for discrimination. Its very simple. Now before you suggest we start chopping off limbs try to realize why some countries wont let you.
