Would you be interested in using more than 10% of your brain?

How interested would you be to learn to use more than the 10% of your brain? If you could either take some kind of class or follow steps that would teach you to use your mind to either find out information, telekenisis, heal yourself or others, cause fires, etc, etc..

that's evil! no way! 2

Pretty huge misconception going on there. Just look at most images of brain scans - they clearly show more than a miserly 10% of the brain in use. In a hypothetical world where that wasn't the case though, I would definitely take classes to improve that an "unlock" some weird human powers.

Yes. The idea that we only use 10% of our brains is complete nonsense.

I can already do this, as can every other human being. We use ten percent of our brain at a time but we use all of it at different times.

because this is just a silly myth made up a long time ago by some company trying to advertise some magic "smart pill" or something like that.

Whenever I see anything like this, I read about the techniques and find out that I'm already using them (although not the examples you state). The only exception is the memory-image techniques which absolutely stunned me. I thought I had a reasonably good memory but these are just brilliant and I'd recommend them to anyone (especially the ordered list method).

When I saw your name, I was sure that you'd be pointing out that the whole "you only use 10% of your brain" thing is a myth. Tsk, tsk.

Alas, that thought was in the 90% of my brain I wasn't using when I answered this. :P

In all seriousness, I've never really thought about it much but the 10% claim did seem to lack substantiation.

        • Ten percent is just a guesstimate or average. Its fair to say we use a minority of our brains.

I use 100% of it if for nothing else than to keep my skull from collapsing.

    it sounds tiring.

I'd like to, as it is we DO only use a portion of the brain. 'Coz if we all used 20% or more then everybody would be geniouses with photographic memories able to recall nearly everything in sight. Then spacial perception, calculous, trig, etc., would be like 5+5 to us. Most of us are not there yet.

I wish I could use all of my brain to its (my) full potential. I think it would be interesting to unlock the secrets of the mind.

But you already do, just like every other human on earth, actually now that I think about it, maybe people as dumb as you actually only do use 10% of their brain, that would explain a lot actually.

  • Outside of any mind altering drugs, it is possible to meditate and look within and figure out how to heal one's body, to visualize people and see them in your mind and find out information, etc. I can do all these things, and im considering offering a yin yoga class to people that want to learn the steps involved to do it, so i made this poll to find out if people would care to learn. It takes effort to learn this just as it takes effort to take a class to learn a language or what not. It"s all possible to those who are will to put forth the effort.

    it's called psychedelic drugs.
i tried shrooms once and my brain went into hyper over drive. i was solidly thinking through about 10 different things all at one instant in time, my brain was working at unheard of speeds and capacity (what i imagine using a higher percentage of your brain might be like).

i'm there with you. I'm big on the belief of 'Mind over Matter.' i've noticed in various situations that even if nothing is wrong with you, if you think there is something wrong, then there is going to be something wrong. like vomiting. if you see someone vomit, and then all that is going through your mind is, ewww vomit, now i'm going to vomit, i'm going to vomit, i'm going to vomit, well, good chance, you are going to vomit. but if u see the vomit and ignore it then think good thoughts about how you feel perfectly fine, then you won't vomit.
same with anxiety and stress, you can let it take over your body (and hurt physically, not just mentally) or you can use your mind to will it away.

i also started looking into focusing Chi, which is also a fascinating way of using more of your brain.

I kinda like having my brain control the majority of my bodily functions automatically without me having to regulate it consciously 24/7, so no.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we do use all our brain, just not all at once. Unless we're having a seizure.

Then again the CIA did all kinds of experiments with remote viewing and telekenesis and shit back in the 60s, so some people obviously take it pretty seriously... read some pretty crazy supposedly true accounts of some of the things they did there, but there's very little information to find on it outside of the film, and who knows how accurate that really is?

I think our senses are more expansive than given credit for but I'm not sure if that's true to the extent that you speak. I probably shouldn't go into a big rant on the subject however because it's a bit off topic.
