Would you buy a mac if it was cheap?

If apple suddenly decided to drop the price of their best computer product to the PC equivalent, would you buy it or would you still buy the PC.

Never buy a Mac when you can use an umbrella.

Potentially. Apple does have decent customer support, and some alright proprietary software. PCs have way more though.

Nope. I have never purchased a computer and don't ever plan to. My phone is more than enough technology for me.

I've owned 5 Macs. I prefer them for the kind of work i do (film editing, photography, design). My current Mac almost never crashes, maybe once a year at most. I've worked on PCs as well. For a long time I didn't like PCs much but I think they're way better than they used to be.

Since the demise of Steve Jobs, Apple's operating system has gone backwards big time. Seems like change for the sake of change rather than change to improve useability. The latest OS Yosemite sucks big time and was released with way too many bugs.

If Apple keeps going the way it's going I may even switch to the dark side.

"almost never crashes, maybe once a year at most."
lol. My PC has only had an issue once in the last 10 years. The hard drive started to fail and I had to replace it.

"The hard drive started to fail and I had to replace it."

Hard drive failure is not what I define as a crash.

I define a crash as your PC randomly freezes causing you to have to restart the PC to continue your work.

For years I'd worked in Mac only studios, then I worked for a company that used a suite of about 30 PCs. No matter what PC I used, on average I'd have to restart that PC two or even three times a day, every single day due to freezes.

I estimated I lost at least an hour's production time every single day I worked there.

In 15 years of working in the design, photography and film editing industry I never had that ongoing problem with a Mac.

        Just my experience.

Well, I believe the reason I haven't had any problems with mine is because I built it myself and I know how to maintain computers properly. Also, I don't use Windows XP, like many companies still do.

Aside from Windows 8.1, I also use Linux on this computer.

Just about every pre-assembled PC I've seen has a ton of bloatware and just generally unnecessary software and services running. They also do not have an adequate CPU, video card, or amount of RAM (for my purposes), unless you spend $1,200+.

Well that would make sense, the place I worked at was running XP with Adobe Creative Suite. Crashed like a teenager driving his dad's car while drunk.

Yeah, I don't understand why so many businesses still use XP. It drives me crazy.

It wasn't even that good of an OS when it was released over a decade ago.

    Apple computers are PCs.

Regardless of price, I would not want any device made by Apple.
I don't like them as a company, and I hate their operating systems. Lack of customisation is a huge turn-off for me.

One of the reasons I switched to linux is that you can change the look or behavior of literally everything.

  • I'd miss the "right click left click." But I had Mac's my whole life until 2010.

They have right click now. You have to enable it, though.

Do you plan on making Apple pay their Foxconn slaves even less? And, outsourcing their tech support to the cheapest location?

I like the open source stuff now that my brother installed it all for me. :-) I'm using Ubuntu.

The PC stuff lets you customize far more. You can pop Mac software onto a PC. Its not a Macintosh, its a Hackintosh.

No. I bought a mac at full price and I regret it. It's not just the price that I regret but, the quality as well.

The only reason I bought it was because of hype, materialism, and the cult of Apple. I felt like their products were superior to PCs and the people who owned them, inferior. Good grief, did I live to regret buying it! I wasn't thinking! I did the same thing with my iPhone.

I feel like Macs are really limited compared to a pc. So, no. My parents bought a mac a few years back and it never got much use, it just sits here like decoration. There's a bunch of fps's and a game called Guild Wars that I used to play that bring such beautiful memories on the pc. The only Apple product I own is an iPod and I don't know where the fuck it is. Haven't seen that in a long time. Fuck iPhones, too.

How low? Like 5 bucks? Heck yes! like $150? Nah, I'll just save up for a new pc.

Nah. I don't like modern technology so I'd rather not have either. Although I'll probably have to at some point, I'm not planning to ever buy a new computer.

PC by a mile. Windows have out ran Apple in the computer department.
Besides, I am very familiar with Windows Xp and 7 but haven't experienced any Mac operating system.
When depelopers produce their software, they think Windows first.
But still, if I had money enough I would love a Mini or Air, AFTER a proper Windows work horse.
