Would you buy this house at my age?

It's a nice home with 29 acres, two small ponds, a small stable, and a barn. Interest rates are low right now and I can get it all for considerably less than value.

I plan to raise quail and maybe goats if I go for it. I can also raise sturgeon in the ponds for a likely good profit.

The problem is that I'm almost 50 and I'm looking at at least 20 years of payments. I'll be damned near 70 when it's all done.

    • You're probably right but I'm thinking more about how long I'll be paying for this thing into my senior years. Having to pay a mortgage till I'm 67 isn't something to look forward to. Then again, I love this property.

Pay on it for 17 years then do a reverse mortgage when you retire.

If it's a dream of yours why not do it?

I thought sturgeon were protected and a 100 years old and need tons of space, how do you raise them successfully?

        • No, you get paid yearly to raise them, and some varieties produce eggs after 10 years. You just dont own the eggs when they produce.

Cool. I think you should do it. Like another said though, property values are going to go down so maybe hold off for a bit if you can.

20 years to pay off a house on 29 acres?? Thats a bargain. Takes most people 20 years to pay off a shitty old 3 bedroom house on 500 to 700 square meters. Depending on how close to the city you are.

I say go for it if you think you can afford to.

Go for it. You only live once. If you are 50 and in good health, you should make it to 70 and well beyond. I'm 72 and plan on being around a lot longer.
