No!
Here's the thing... the environment is suffering and we have to do something about it! But the "we" is always the western (developed) world, isn't it?!
We have to give up air travel, we have to pay higher CO2 taxes, give up meat, luxury goods, use the internet less, buy less things, separate more garbage, use more public transport, stop using cars with large engines and ban the internal combustion engine altogether.
But we never hear about what the rest of the world has to do for the good of our planet.
Y'know... Lots of people in places like India still use 2-stroke engines from the 19th century to power villages and their industries spew more pollution than the rest of the western world combined.
Why can't they give up on 2-stroke cars and mopeds, stop procreating like cockroaches and ban coal? Industries in the western world have gotten a whole lot cleaner and more efficient and our vehicles are much more eco-friendly. Why do we have to sacrifice our comforts for others?!
So no, I won't eat insects! I won't do any of this shit!
If everyone does it for the good of the planet - fair enough, I'll tag along.
But if it's just the sake of us looking "eco", then fuck that! I'm driving my twin-turbo V8 car, drinking Chivas Regal, eating red meat and living life the way I want.
In my country we eat larvae of wasps. We fry them and eat as snacks with a little bit of salt. I add some pepper too. They're crispy and delicious.
In summer, you'll see children in the woods looking for the nests. Oh, these bring back so many beautiful childhood memories.
"To save the environment" is honestly a moronic reason to do such a thing, but "to make better use of the resources we possess" is a reason that could make an action perfectly considerable.
Well no cos I'm vegetarian. But they would be a great way to cut down on carbon emissions as an alternative to meat. Besides, there's insects in a lot of food already, just that you don't know about it. So you've probably eaten insects already.
Yes but for a survival food. Planning on having a bug farm to supplement a chicken farm.
I've eaten a few meal worms before, they were alright. They weren't live of course, the meal worms had been seasoned, cooked.
One of the stores near me had lollipops with tiny scorpions or crickets in the center of them instead of gum. They weren't that bad.
