Ok fast forward a few years and they have set up facilities for sustainable human living on mars. You have been given the opportunity to be among the first of the population to colonize the planet. It is history in the making. Would you go?

I would love to leave Earth (since it's a shithole and I don't find deep space scary), however it's risky since everyone else would probably want to leave too. Plus what kind of government would the new world have? What kind of people would be going? I don't want to live on a planet full of jerks.

while i like the idea of living on another planet, this isnt what i had in mind.

I really couldn't give a crap about living on a planet at all, but I'd be happier than a pig in shit living on a starship, traveling the universe.
Anyone ever read The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut? Yeah I'd move there.
Nah, being one of the first, although massively significant historically, would probably be pretty boring day to day. There wouldn't be a whole lot to do up there in early stages of colonisation.
I would leave Earth, but I wouldn't go live on Mars. I want to go live on Mercury.
