    What's the point of proving you are better that someone else at a certain activity? Isn't there anything more worthy in those people's lives?

    Depends. How much is the gold medal worth and/or is it really made of gold?

      They're really silver, plated with 6 grams of gold. So that would make it worth around $300-400. I assume they have a higher value as memorabilia though.

    I would love to win a gold medal, but I won't... I'm not much of a runner. Swimming is more my thing, but i'm just normal. Nowhere near as good as the athletes that train all day! If shining/ polishing a car was a medal winning thing, I'd win that one for sure!

    I'd love to win Olympic gold for anything but gymnastics is the least likely for me. I am incredibly single-jointed and have the gymnastic ability of an asthmatic sloth. I really rate gymnastics as an Olympic event, by the way, because of the skill involved (over something like shooting, which seems to use a single skill-set, i.e. holding a gun steady).
