Would you run towards a dog fight to help or would u run away ?

So my first reaction would be to run towards the dog fight especially if it is my dog getting mauled. Yesterday my dog left the property to meet one of my neighbors dogs (A Pity Cross). I already freak out when my Hunterway x Shar Pei goes up to other dogs as my boy is rather tall & can be very intimidating looking. Deep down, he's a big softie & would never hurt anyone. You get the jist. I stop unloading the boot of my car, start walking just down the drive to get my dog as he doesn't listen when we call, and the fuking Pity attacks my dog! Within seconds he had latched onto his face! What angered me beyond belief, was the stupid, dumb idiot who was taking his Pity for a walk, just stood there right next to them & watched! He didn't do a fukin thing! Meanwhile im quickly walking up to to them yelling/screaming in a deep voice and the other dog let go. I'm a slender white girl & I had this overwhelming sense to punch this guy square in his face! I wanted to kick his dog. Is this normal to feel so angry about!?

People who let their dogs run loose are shitbags.

This sounds fake. he "latched onto his face" and you don't know whether to be upset or not?

And, contrary to dog-loving morons' beliefs, it's not "abuse" fight off a dog in any way possible, especially who is equally matched to you as a "slender white girl" (really what did race have to do with this?)

Geez, why are dog owners so fucking stupid

Pit bulls are just a different breed of dog when it comes to interactions with other dogs. Pits are very rarely aggressive towards humans and usually there is a very easily seen reason, the dog was teased/messed around with, horribly abused, or terribly inbred.

The reason dog fighting is so successful with this specific breed is because pit bulls were bred to do this 150+ yrs ago. The breed was created to fight, but to respond to its handler and not be aggressive towards the human when the human went to stop the fight to prevent further injury to whichever dog was clearly losing. Any dog that showed aggression towards people was not allowed to breed or put down right away.

That's why the pit bulls of today are very friendly towards people and make terrible guard dogs. I would know I have a 90+ lb solid muscle red nose pit bull myself.

When it comes to other dogs they usually don't have much patience at all. If they can't be in charge or get the feeling the other dog is challenging them they will stand their ground, its just their nature.

why tf did you let your dog even go near a dog he's never met before? i'm sorry but i think you're in the fault here, especially if you let your dog waltz up to any strange dog he sees, leash or no leash. while pitbulls are loving and caring to people, it's known that pitbulls can be quite agressive with other dogs, ESPECIALLY stranger dogs. it's like someone having a human child who lets them go up to strange dogs without asking if the dog is agressive or not. would you let a human child run up to a dog who you've never seen before and could be potentially dangerous?

now the owner of the pitbull is also at fault because he was walking the dog without a leash in public, which is illegal in most parts of the world.

all i can say is be more careful with your dog, and to tell your neighbour to stop being a shitty owner by letting his dog roam around the neighbourhood without a leash.

Ever since I saw my neighbors mutt outside of his perimeter, I knew I didn't want my dog anywhere near him. Its like I had this gut feeling. My dog (as I explained above) was outside with my mum & I playing/running around while we unpacked.

oh i thought you meant you just let your dog loose on the neighbourhood lol. that's totally fine, but yeah if your neighbours dog tries to attack again you should call animal control

  • My dog was attacked once by 2 loose labs. I used the metal handle to hit the dogs in the head with it. One backed off right away. The other kept circling and eventually charged and pulled her legs out from underneath her. At that point I kicked the dog as hard as I could in the ribs and used a heavy stick to whack it over the head. After a few hits it let go and I chased it away. She limped home with me. My dog is a wolf mix though with very thick fur. A normal dog would probably get a lot more injured.

My neighbors pit gets out once in a while and I've seen it attack 2 dogs in the last 6 months. I was in the backyard the first time so I couldn't do anything but I wanted to because the owner seemed very hesitant to grab his dog off of this poor old golden retriever who ended up limping home :( The second time, the dog let go and ran in my direction so I grabbed him.

My sister has an adorable toy Poodle who for some reason always triggers other dogs prey drives. I love dogs, but I'd hurt any dog that hurt that Poodle. I'm not really a Poodle person, but that little dog is so sweet and gentle. There are wild rabbits all over Las Vegas and my sister's Poodle never chases them.

  • It can be extremely hard to break a dog fight. I know this from experience.

Yes!! Pits and pit crosses are dangerous time bombs. They are on the top of the list when it comes to which dog has killed the most people and /or mauled them so badly they need surgery. They also top the list of doing the same to other dogs. If my dog was attacked by a pit I would grab anything that could do mortal harm and use it. Those dogs usually don't let go until they kill the animal they are shaking. You are lucky that pit let go!

You should kill the other dog, seriously. That shit is unacceptable. And if the owner isn't going to do anything to stop it, sort it out yourself.
