      Possibly. I saw an anthropology documentary that talked about why humans have such complicated romantic relationships compared to other animals. Obviously intelligence plays a role but apparently a big turning point was when we started walking around upright. Men could no longer see and smell women's genitals easily, and had to start looking for other clues as to whether or not she was ready to mate. The eyes and body language became important in this decision making process - look into her eyes, watch her body language and try to figure out how she's feeling. I suppose fiddling with different parts of her and then noticing that something makes her feel good would play into that.
