Do you agree with this. I've been thinking about it because I have just read a post about whether one believed Jesus was a real human being that has existed and I read someone's comment saying, "I believe he did" and this thought popped into my head that one cannot believe and know. You either believe or you know.
In my opinion you can never rule something else out unless you seen it with your own eyes.
Well it isn't possible to know that since no one does, however it is possible to believe he did which would basically be another way of saying one thinks he did.
To believe is simply to "think with assent". "Thinking" being defined as "the movement of the mind while yet deliberating, and not yet perfected by the clear sight of truth." Thus, unless you have truly seen something yourself, you can only believe.
