I hate the chinese.

I like steam dumplings, fried wontons, shrimp fried rice, shrimp mei fun and shrimp in garlic sauce.

It is stupid to ask such question. Since nobody knows you personally, only your doctor can tell if you are still a normal person.

If you feel you hate Chinese for no reason, there must be lot of people (Chinese or non-Chinese) hate you for no reason... They may hate your sound, your looking, or whatever. If you think they are normal then you are normal; if you think they are abnormal then you have the same problem...

i am a Chinese. to be honest some Chinese are really annoying, crazy selfish, noisy in public cos they are a lack of education. but not my friends, not me, not most of the chinese students abroad. i want change the fact and i hope some chinese stop doing shameful things but i have no idea. i accept all you said. forgive the chinese who offended you guys. but if you said chinese language irritate you, sorry i can not help swearing you.(sorry i am not good at english)

I'd say 'hate' is not the human norm (though that's arguable), but patent dislike of a group of people *is,* sadly. However, when the dislike is non-stop and in your mind 24/7, you're back at abnormal.

I've been living and working in mainland China two and a half years. I never really went through culture way back when; I was stuck in 'euphoria stage' for various reasons until recently. Suddenly, it has hit me--BAM--like a ton of bricks. The irritation and exasperation I've been feeling is, I know, perfectly natural. I'm a human being, not a god. I recognize my feelings 100%% in what foreign_devil wrote. It's just....it's all true.

I'm educated and observant enough to know full-well *why* it's true, and that it's not true for every single person in the country, but it can just be heartbreaking sometimes to see the effects of a giant cultural 'jump' that skipped 100 years, leaving the majority of its citizens in the past, coping with a nation that should have come a century later. Inevitable, every last shred of it. Every last face-save, and spit, and honk, and illogical conclusion, and stare, and childish nationalist comment, and declaration of, 'I only care about money!...' is inevitable. Don't hate the Chinese people. Start with Mao.

Well i'm chinese and i dont feel really offended. I guess you feel this way because of upbringing. NOT TO OFFEND, BTW. loads of people (exept chinese cuz idont think we hate ourselves) are brought up thinking that chinese are like, inferior. I don't really know why tho. XD. ANYWAY. yes, its true that alot of chinese people spit, etc. This is actually because in past generations, most chinese gave birth to 7-12 kids. this makes it extremely hard to earn enough, thus no education and lack of manners. Also, about the sichuan earthquake (from foreigndevil), its also true that thisis because of bad construction. Yes. the earthquake was a disaster. but did u notice that many, countless chinese (and others) helped pull in money? We help each other!
Driving. also from foreign devil, i think u mean people on the MAINLAND. Not to be racist or anything, but the cantonese are a little bit more.. polite? in hong kong, people drive really well!

1. If you don't 'hate hate them', then it's not hate your feeling. A more appropriate term would be 'disgust', or 'irritating', or 'uncultured'.

2. I am Taiwanese, which is actually Chinese, except were not Communist. This is because we lost the civil war 50 years ago. Taiwanese people are nationalistic democratic now and we do not suppress the right of free speach. We also don't take over other countries. Most of us have excellent manners. However, we still get lumped in with the Mainland Chinese folks, and I hate it. Over the years, this has lead me to hate the people who denounce Chinese.

3. Do you not understand that when you lump us proper citizens in with those Chinese people you don't like, you insult us? Because I can't stand it when somebody says, "oh look, its those naive ignorant retarded Chinese people". They don't even know I'm not Chinese, and they judge us. WTF. For our sakes, please stop insulting people you don't like. It may offend others related to them, and it hurts. Insulting a single race also shows bad character, and it's ugly.

4. I agree that most of the comments here are correct, but I feel like you're all just as bad as the Chinese, because you're all just as ignorant. The Chinese have lifted the most people out of poverty in the least amount of time in the world (24 million in 5 years). They're also aiming to be a fully developed country by the year 2080. And you know what, they're going to do it without lending billions from every single know country like the US of fucking A does. And if you think China is underdeveloped, please remember half of its land was conquered by Japan 50 years ago, and millions were slaughtered and raped. Now they are a world power.

5. Democracy is never going to work in China, so please shut up about the right to do fuck. There are just too many people. And the one child policy: at least they don't regulate what gender your child is. They're also much better off than africa, who kill and rape for fun in the morning.

I have lived in China for almost 2 years now. I'll admit that I didn't like Chinese people for some time, but that was because a Chinese girl was dating my ex at the time. To be honest, now, I love Chinese people. They are sooooo nice! I had a baby in China and they love to say "Nihao" to us and play with my baby. When I was pregnant they would give up their seat for me on the bus. My boss is Chinese and she is the most honest and fair person I have ever worked for. I have many Chinese friends and they love to come visit me and help me when ever they can. I love China and if it were in my power, I would never leave China. Most people here are so kind, friendly, innocent, loving, and generous. I also have much respect for China, because they play by their own rules and are not intimidated by anyone (USA) like everyone else is in the world. I hope I never have to leave. I love you China and your people!

I am a chinese descendant, before I came to China, I was very proud being a Chinese descendant, but after I come to China and working in China, a while ago, I started very very hate Chinese, i.e. Chinese MAINLAND! especially Chinese mainland, who never go overseas, who are uneducated, even the university students, I still feel they are really not represent so-called: educated people. They are mostly very rude, annoying, too proud and unrespect other people. They just care about their (ugly) face!!!! They don't care about other people's feeling, reluctant to admit their fault, they are fake in every way, including their mind.

The Chinese are notorious for being obnoxious, loud, dirty, and evil. They are known for quantity - not quality. Everywhere they go they make a big deal of their disgusting language. They post Chinese-language signs loudly just like those street gangs marking their territories. The Chinese almost almost travel in large groups. They crowd the streets, the sidewalks, and the cities. It's interesting that the word "Chinese" is plural by itself. There are billions of these cockroaches crawling at every corner of the world and they are spreading diseases of corruption and they know how to find loopholes in the system to their advantage. The most disgusting thing about the Chinese is their language. It's barbaric. It's very unpleasant to listen to. But that reflects well of a culture that resembles that of cockroaches.

I am a westerner living in China and your comments offend me, let alone any Chinese people reading. Yes the Chinese are different, yes their idea's of what consitutes 'normal' may differ from those of us westerners but that is part of the rich tapestry that makes up the world. During my time here I have met countless happy, friendly, dignified and - surely not - modest, Chinese and most of those in my current home city of Shanghai - widely regarded as the economic, 'money grabbing' capital of China.

It really is sad when people apply such massive generalisations. Just ask yourself what you feel when you are on the receiving end. 'I hate America - warmongering, ignorant, celebrity obsessed, fat, loud ar5eholes'. You, personally, may be none of those and it probably infuriates you that people apply those charecteristics to you, personally, based on interaction with a minute percentage of Americans.

I find korean people are mean and they think they're better than anyone. But chinese people they like to help each other and they don't expect you to pay back. When I was in school I talked to my friends, this korean girl came by and said our voice sound like shit and their voice sound like the bird singing. And other one korean was trying to take my husband away from me. Chinese people don't do that. They respect each other and don't think they will steal other bf/husband away. I don't have problem with korean people but yeah 2 problems happened to me make me don't trust them.

I'm starting to worry about hating a lot of the Chinese parents at my daughter's school. The school is almost 90%% Cantonese Chinese. The parents are heavily involved, almost to the point of being over-involved. Many of the moms stay home and actually bring hot lunches to their kids and clean out their kid's desks at noon. I have seen them do homework for their kids and submit it as the child's. I think much of it is cultural but it's hard not to find it a bit stifling. I feel worst for the kids themselves. Forced to go to school after school and all summer long even though many of them are working above grade level. I watch them forced to join the chess club, forced to play the violin. Forced to do all kinds of things that any kid would find unpleasant because their culture or parents dictate they must do these things. Many things about my Chinese neighbors are admirable. They are very family-oriented. They have large extended families that live together. Old people look after the youngsters so parents can work but if there is one stereotype I can confirm, besides the tendency of these folks to keep to their own kind, it's this. They do drive very, very badly. Not just carelessly. They drive like they are trying to hurt someone or themselves. Often making sudden moves without any indication. Never turning their heads to look before changing lanes or entering traffic and just behaving nutty behind the wheel. It's hands-down the worst thing about living where I live.

If stereotypes of chinese are true, what about these stereotypes of other groups:

White - they're either mass murderers, rapists, or child molesters
Jews - they whine, complain, bitch about everything and they think they're better than you
Blacks - they deal crack and they rob you
Mexicans - they're illegals, they rob you, bring swine flu and steal your car
Arabs - these guys do everything in the name of allah
Packies - because they stink and wipe their ass with their fingers
Aboriginals - they're either drunk or high
Vietnamese - all they do is operate grow ops
Russians - they get drunk, don't work and beat on their women
Chinese - we shit in the street and eat dog
Somalians - they claim refugee status, have 8 kids and go on welfare

It's a known fact that there is discrimination of minorities in China. I agree with that. But to say Chinese people are the most racist in the world because this happens very commonly in China is like saying that White people are also one of the most racist people in the world because there is the KKK. most of the time, I love being in China. Its cheap to live here and the food taste good and is healthy. As a foreigner I have a lot of opportunities for work here. China is developing fast and has many beautiful areas and people. My chinese friends are open minded and very caring. The educated and cultured Chinese people are delightful. I have always loved Chinese people. I grew up near China town in New York, and now I live in China. I know that we can sit here and tear any race a new one. There are so many stereotypes out there- we could be here all day talking about whats good and bad about any and all races. Mostly its all just observations and judgements - this amounts to crap. Second, I don't think Chinese language is weird, I think it's pretty cool. if u are a Chinese, maybe u will think that English is weird. I do not like Chinese,because they are really rude,greedy and mean!!! They are just scary. We can not say that every Cinhese is bad.I know that,but my experience with them is very negative. Besides that I have seen so many of them cutting their nails on the subway. It just disgusts me.

I really HATE chinese people, they came here to Peru, South America, and they arent involved in our culture, they barely speak in spanish, only think of money, very selfish, violent. i'm not white, im mixed indian and spanish (like mexicans) but seriously i prefer the manners of europeans and americans than chinese ones, chineses are absolutely annoying...without speaking about pollution and irregular products from mainland...they dont have any ethic...(sorry my english)...

It sucks because China itself (not most of the big cities) is a beautiful country and has many cool parts of its culture. However in general, yeah I think Chinese people are horrible. They aren't the worst bunch of people but they are not far off from the bottom of the barrel. I can't say every province is the same though and Hong Kong people are not so bad but for the most part all their stereotypes fit. Dirty, loud, tendency for rude behavior... The 'well off' ones are the worst of the bunch which unfortunately come over to live over here, ugh!

99% of Chinese people i have met or had anything to do with came accross as arrogant, selfish, smelly - like dropping farts anywhere they liked, ate like pigs, sneaky, liars, money is their religion and would do anything to become successful. They also come accross as racist as well.

The Chinese are one of the worst most insidious long term infections a country can have. First is their ghetto nature to only live where they live and only speak their horrible language. They generally worship money and are poly-theistic and have deities which they pray to for money and success. They also raise their kids in a way where if their kid tramples over or browbeats or cheats another kid that is taught as OK. They also value "training" as in molding and modeling behavior to get a robot person not a self actualized person. The Chinese will steal, deliver sub-standard quality and put lives in danger just to make money. They have a long history of being subjects of brutal empires and regimes and they by nature hoard, steal deceive and play constant defense. Second generation Chinese (twinkies) are ok, and by the third most of this horrible behavior is gone. The Chinese have a special ability of being the third world with them. They make wherever they are more and more like the horrible, third world, unfair no human rights dump China is and they can transform a place where they all live into that hell-hole like no other group.

This is a very interesting thread. I have a very good education, love cultures from over the world, speak 5 languages and so on, have always combat forms of racism...but since I've lived in HK, I can't help myself feeling this pulsion of hatred towards Chinese (and sometimes Koreans)when:
- they eat with their mouth open
- belch, burp, fart at any given occasion with an air of satisfaction on their face
- they scurry like little rats for the tiny seat on the metro
- when they try to kill pedestrians while driving cars thru crossings
- celebrate their horrible nationalism at every occasion (Makes me want Japan won the war!)
- and and and...

Then I discovered Taiwan and I made peace with the "real" Chinese culture.
What I found is that it is the lack of most simple civil manners in HK and on the mainland that make Chinese so revolting. Their lack of humanity as well since they only care about themselves (let's be real the family & children is just an expansion of the self).
I hate Chinese culture simply because in this country focused on material wealth, people have no sense for
- beauty
- love
- or the sacred & spiritual
...and believe that their wealth is the panacea for all their horror.

However, Taiwan shows that there is hope for that Chinese people can become humans again.
This discovery made me understand that I am not racist, moreover it helped point out the flaws in my own character: That I shoulp help people more, that I should create more beauty for all to share.

China is this: It plays a role, the role of the black hole, the anti-humanity, the sum of all human ugliness.

If we recognize this, then China will help us improve ourselves and be ready when we have to help it change

I used to tolerate the chinese living in HK for many years, but recent events have led me to change my mind completely... my friend was slapped by a chinese just because she told the chinese lady of 30 not to push in the English language. My friend asked her why she pushed twice. She got slapped. My friend tried to slap her back but that animal jumped my friend to the ground, pulled her hair, bit her hand and scratched her nose so my friend's glasses came flying off. They are not human beings. I have every right to take this view because this is a first hand account. I went to get help as the passers by could not be bothered to help non-chinese. This was over 2 years ago and i have moved on.

However, just over 2 days ago when i asked a chinese woman to "excuse me"- they have no sense and realise that they are blocking narrow street paths and roads by speaking on the phone or hanging around (seems like most chinese do not have an ounce of common sense unless they have been overseas and are utterly devoid of humanity). When my mom asked her why did you spit on my daughter, the woman just hit me on the head with her bag and kicked my 70 year old mom in the shin and ran off. I tried following her until she jumped into a cab. The police were of no help as they took their time in coming. ENglish is not a first language.

The locals who witnessed all this did not give a toss even though there were so many shoppers. THe chinese are worse than animals and I hate the sight of them. Of course i am going to do something... up and leave and making arrangements.

Nothing now can ever change my mind. The chinese in HK almost ran away when china took over in 1997- they cannot stand their own people. For things like that to happen in HK, I can only say they are the scum of the earth.

They are known to look down on minorities. I have no idea why. Oh, yes i do, because chinese yellow skin is superior to minorities brown colour or whatever. That is what my minority friends say. And the chinese are ever buying whitening products. No point as it is what is on the inside that makes people beautiful- no white cream will take away the squint from their eyes or improve their features, therefore for them to go around thinking they are white and these days rich and hence superior, they are in for something.

Despite all the money in China, no western country trusts it. It is because of what these people are to the core- i'll leave that to the readers to imagine.

Like i said, i have lived here long enough to be justified in making these comments and from personal experience.

I am trying to find peace and solace within myself but i believe only time and getting the heck out of here can do this.

Well here's the thing, I lived for one year in China. My girlfriend is Chinese. She hates Chinese mentality too! When I first came to China I didn't see how awful life is there, I was in Guangdong province and well my girlfriend told me there are places far worse in China. I believed her, and well yes we know all they care is about money and it really shows because they have sacrificed the environment so hard just to be the No 1 superpower and overtake USA. They remind me of Manchester city and Real Madrid in football. They want to open to the west but they are not ready because they are peasants! Peasants in the way they think. I don't care what you're gonna say (about the Chinese people here) frankly I don't give a fuck, I find it unacceptable to eat dogs and cats because they are pets and well they deserve more love than you do from the west. You have a disgusting government that makes you look even worse and it's a little bit better than the one in North Korea! And to be totally fair..the Chinese women they are the best women I have met and they don't deserve the men there, because they have all the negative qualities a man can have. They are dishonest, cowards (pussies), thieves, money greedy and they deserve a heavy beating. In Guangdong province 3 men tried to rob a woman and they made it and one of them attacked her from behind and he needed his friends too (that's why I said pussies because these are not men). Sad thing is that many people steal there. And there are all men from what I have seen. Maybe there are women and the thieving pussies (because these are not men they're cunts). Essentially, I think its wrong to hate people based on their race. I guess Chinese from mainland China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Phillipines, Singapore and other places are vastly different because the human race is just that diverse.

Honestly, some of the worse human beings I have met are from my workplace, which consists of ~65% chinese from China and the rest are Singaporeans or other nationalities.

I think because I work with the mostly China chinese, I would say i have met some china bad eggs and some really nice ones.

Here are some of the bad habits I've seen them committing:

1) Ignoring people's religious beliefs
I've had to continuously refuse to go to office gatherings held in non-halal restaurants because we have muslim colleagues who won't be caught dead dining in a Chinese restaurant that serves pork. My China boss thinks allowing them to order bento sets of halal food into the Chinese restaurant is acceptable.

2) Speaking in chinese in meetings when there are other people of different races in the meeting- nuff said!

3) Expressing their dislike for Indians- I've had China colleagues express their hate for Indians unreservedly. But i guess bigots are equally distributed in all races.

4) China products are the best!
They try to convince you that you can get "xxx" in China cheaper and better. I understand they are nationalistic, I hope they eat the food they make and fly in planes that are safely made in China.

5) The art of following and not sharing
I sometimes get really bored in meetings because its just my China boss talking. That seems to be what they mean by leadership? Top down and no need for any feedback... Btw, they are also very tight when you work with them so its tough to get useful information and learn from their brilliance.

All in all, I have met some really smart and brilliant china people but some with really bad habits. Don't hate them. Just hate the habits some of them exhibit, which may be exhibited in other races too if you are observant!

About the food, now I quit to eat seafood, I eat a little beef and more pork. In longrun, I hope to eat no meat, this is right that killing is killing. so, i want to be a vegetarian. It is no excuse for killing some cattle is good and killing wild animal is bad. Before you guys blame each other, why don't we quit all meat together??

Well, if you ask me, I don't hate them, more like dislike their government and habbits. like for example the recent google incident with China. I've also been to China countless times. The place isn't the cleanest, and the Chinese just spit anywhere they want, whenever they want. I pity the beggars on the streets though; there are many. My family was followed into a restaurant by a beggar who wanted some change. To me, they are very cheap, and many of their products are fakes and resulted in faults. 9 out of 10 time I've bought items in China, I've either been scammed or the product is totally defective after 2 days. Also they made the news about their products containing chemicals harmful to children playing with the toys. The tainted milk too. I don't hate the Chinese people, just their sexist and social beliefs. Oh and BTW, when the speak of the the Japanese or Americans, they always use the slang translation of "American/Jap Bastards!"

I am half Chinese and I have to admit the Chinese turn me off a great deal. My mother, who is pure Chinese, is patronizing, controlling and expects you to listen to everything she says, never mind you're already an adult. I guess it's ingrained in the Chinese psyche (especially the older generation Chinese and those that are not Western educated and not exposed outside the Mandarin speaking world) that the younger generation must always listen to them, that their words are gospel. They fail to realise a generation gap exists between them and their children and that the world has changed. I also agree with another point being made here - that the Chinese find it very hard to admit their mistake in order to save face.

Not all chinese are smelly, mean or cheap. I know some HK people and they're mean but a lot of them are actually really nice, kind and generous. Can't we stop hating each other and get along together? :)

On the other hand, many Chinese people are also kind, hospitable, generous, respectful, and friendly. On the bus- if you are old or a child or a pregnant woman - people will give up a seat for you. The old people are remarkably active and respected by the young people. Every ethnic race has its ups and downs.

I'm a Chinese, I've seen group of Korean young people, yelling at the airport, while I and my friends are quite quiet. I believe, that Chinese is not the only people who speaks loud in the public. You can feel uncomfortable, but when it comes to "hate", I'll have to say, you are a racist.

Chinese people and elevators

Americans stereotype Asians as super brainy math nerds, right? Maybe it’s Koreans or the Japanese that are super smart but it’s certainly not the Chinese. I’ve never met such retarded people in my entire life. My favorite stupid thing that all Chinese people do is misuse elevators.

Ok so you’re on the 8th floor of a building and you want to go down to the first floor so you’d press the down button, right? But what if you can see that the elevator is currently on the 3rd floor? You’d OBVIOUSLY still press the down button. …but not if you’re Chinese. Your average Chinese people seems to ALL think that you need to press the UP button to get the elevator to “come up to you.” I’m not kidding. So here’s what CONSTANTLY happens: I’ll get into our apartment building’s elevator on the 1st floor (I live on the 24th floor) and on my way up, the elevator will stop a million freaking times on every floor that a retarded Chinese person pressed the up button even though they clearly wanted to go down. But since they could see that the elevator was below them, they pressed the up button. So, the elevator will stop on the 3rd floor and a Chinese person will get in (while simultaneously holding a crying baby, some beer and a lit cigarette) and after a minute they’ll realize that the elevator is going up. So, of course, they’ll press buttons until the elevator stops and lets them off on the 6th floor or whatever. Then, on the 15th floor the same thing will F’ING happen with another retarded person. Basically, it’s faster to take the stairs to the 24th floor rather than deal with all the retardedness.

The other thing that really bothers us – Chinese people ALWAYS shove their way into an elevator before they’ll let you get out. It drives us crazy. Oh and then there’s the smoking. Soooo many times I’ve had to get out of an elevator too early just to escape the smoke. How is it ok to puff away in a 10’x5’x5’metal box?!

Maybe it's just me, but doesn't this thread sort of just generalizes all Chinese people? The thread asks in general, and what people (some people) answered were really vague and because of that, it can get really offending.

For Taiwanese people, they're Chinese (but as some people have mentioned) they're democratic. For the ABC (American Born Chinese) it's very different. Our views aren't the same as people who actually come from Mainland, or where ever in China. So not all of us "spit in streets", call every white person "foreign devils", call every Japanese person "Japanese devils", and etc.

I am ABC, I've visited China before (as a short vacation, so I really can't say much here), but as many things that amazes me when I visit my descendant's country, it irks me on how their attitude is (some, not all!). What I hate about China is their (communist) government, and how they take action to detain other countries and their own people who are Pro-democratic.

I came here looking for a insightful, stimulating debate, only to be entirely disappointed. One thing had been made clear to me after skimming through the comments here. A lot of the people here perpetuate negative personal experiences onto the entire Chinese population. I am honestly, truly sorry for the horrible experiences some people have had with Chinese people, but THAT DOES NOT MEAN EVERYONE IN CHINA IS A SCUMBAG. By that logic, I would think that every Chinese person was a saint because of my numerous positive experiences with them! Also, one commentator said that Chinese people only have superficial love, with "security" as their only goal. I literally know Chinese people who have sacrificed their ENTIRE LIVES for the better of their families and children. Mothers who slave away in factories all and return home to cook and do all the chores, refusing to let their kids help out, all because they want their children to focus in studying and have a chance at a better future. On the contrary, the experience I have had with many western families is exactly the opposite. In Chinese culture, people would sacrifice and do anything for family, whereas western culture focuses on individualism above sacrifice. Knowing that, how can you have the galls to perpetuate such a poisonous, untrue, ignorant belief?
TL;DR: Yes, there are many horrible Chinese people out there. But there are horrible people everywhere in the world, in every culture. And just like there are horrible Chinese people, there are compassionate, helpful, and self-sacrificial Chinese people as well. I suggest that you take your hate as inspiration to introduce yourself to a Chinese culture research trip. You might be surprised that there's much to the culture you will find likeable.

Chinese choose to imitate products because they dont have enough imagination -feelings- to create something new. Among the billion of people it shouldnt have been hard to find several.

I think the reason of chinese culture to develop this way is the high population rate. The recources are not enough to feed such a high population. In such a scarcity people can even kill each other to find food and resources. Its not entirely education levels. In my country least educated villagers are the most generous people regardless of how poor they are.

I agree that Chinese valued money more important than their life. Realizing this nature, Chinese Government jacked up housing prices of the whole nation many times higher than USA to make their citizens happy. Just 25 years ago, there was demonstration in Tiananmen Square to demand democratic election and these students got suppressed and killed by the Government. But now since these surviving students got rich thru their home prices and they completely forgotten their mission to reform the Government, instead making an excuse that democracy is not suited for China. That is the reason why Chinese authoritarian Government were able to maintain legitimacy even without election, mainly because most Chinese were richer now than American in term of individual asset and they would not risk their asset to fall down due to demonstration against Government.

I'm engaged to a Chinese girl that I met some time back. She is the sweetest girl I've ever met in my life. She does not care about what I have, she only cares that I work hard and stay loyal. I myself am a Chinese and I have to agree with you. Most Chinese ppl are really close minded. Our school's Chinese teacher says, "10 times reading = 1 time copying (writing) I mean wtf dude? Some ppl can't memorize words while writing. Some ppl can't even understand something if they write instead of read. She even says that there are 3 syllables in "your" and argue with a student for 5 minutes about the amount of syllables in "your".

There is a Chinese lady that works where I work in a hospital facilty and she looks me down because how I look so she assumes that I am a bad person because I have tattoos. I think all the comments here are valid to a certain extent, but I'll add a few qualifiers as part of my comments.

1. The problem with LIKING or DISLIKING the Chinese (mainland, Taiwanese, etc.) is that there are too many of them. Remember, there are like 1.3 billion speakers of Chinese ... so you can imagine how many different TYPES of Chinese there are.

2. Typically, I find that the mainland Chinese are the worst of the lot though. The overseas Chinese, e.g., from US, Malaysia, Taiwan, UK, Europe, Singapore .. etc. are really nice and fine.

3. I think the problem with the mainland Chinese is that they are way too suppressed and repressed beings. Kind of sad for them though, as if money were a religion in that place.

4. Even so the income gap between the rich and poor Chinese is wide, and as with everything there is a continuous range of different ethnic Chinese groups.

5. So, I come to this conclusion – Chinese IN THE URBAN AREAS (e.g,. Beijing, Shanghai) are irritating as hell. This is due to the rural-urban migration from the poor to rich areas. Essentially these people form the up-and-coming wealthy class in China, and they are the noveau riche.

6. One more thing – the brash and arrogant Chinese are often those that are rich, but even it other cultures we can find that quite regularly. BUT – the brash and arrogant Chinese here have political power (see Wen Jiabao), so they like to push their weight around, and that is just the most fucking irritating thing ever.

Whatever the case, if you don't like someone, try not to generalise it to the entire race, but there are some common features amongst emerging cultures that we can always find. That's what makes them a unique culture, no matter how disgusting or wonderful it is.

It's normal. When I took Sydney Cityrail, I saw some school students wrote down 'Chinese are dogs, they love to bark so treat them like dogs', bla2. They are just expressing their feeling to chinese in Sydney. In South East Asia, some people label chinese as zionis since they love to cheat and rude, they even sell fake eggs! In Singapore, while queuing at McDonalds, you may be standing next to a nice chinese, and also very rude, cocky (we call it kiasu) chinese Singaporeans. In Indonesia, all chinese have been 'converted' into 1 race, which is Indonesians. Indonesians know better why it happens. Nowadays, chinese in Indonesia are humble and we love that. In Malaysia, Chinese who stay in Kelantan and Terengganu converse in local unique dialect. The way they adapt with local people way of life is quite interesting. Chinese in Kelantan said they are different, no way to be compared with other chinese people especially in Singapore, and only can be found in Kelantan, which is true.
So, it's all depends on the individuals. If the individual feel chinese are so superior since China is a big country, even though they are not living in China anymore, then I would say they are not helping themselves. Nobody hates humble and adaptable immigrants.

That is because there is only a small minority of Chinese people who act "American," and you consider whatever is like you to be "good." I'm from china. I came to America to go to school in 2007. N i've in Kansas for the first 2 years. Kansas is really boring so I decided to go to California. N I got into one of the UCs in 2009. I have to say that the people I met in kansas were super nice. Most of them r white. They treat me like families. When we talk they slower down their speed of speech.
However, Im in ca now. There r lot of Asians at school. Many of them r american born Chinese. At first, I got so excited to see those people look like me. I thought Im so gonna make lots n lots of friends!!! But it turns out I was just tooooo naive. CA students r totally diff. from kansas ones!! Especially those ABCs, not all of them but at least the majority. I guess they just hate fobs like me.
Ok. This is what happened TODAY!! I went to see my friend n later my friend's abc friend came. Abc just totally ignored me n just went to my friend directly n just talked n talked. So I went up n introduced myselve. Abc said hi back n keep ignoring me n talking. I was right in front of the abc. Ok so I thought if u don't feel like to strangers then I just join in your conversations then. (damn shouldn't be so nice!!!) u know wut!! After a few comments I made to the thing he/she was talking about. The freaking abc told my friend to talk outside n just ran out quickly!!! WTF!!!!! Btw I didn't say ant thing inappropriate. It's like only a few words. Im normally a shy person. The only thing I was trying to do is just to fit in!!!!
I know this discuss isn't about ABCs but I got along with white n black ppl. I actually like them (at least those who i know) very much. N I don't really care about Korean or Japanese, not so many opportunities to get to know them. But the ones I know r pretty nice persons.

its not a stereotype. im Malaysian Chinese(never lived there though thank god ) and I can tell you that pretty much everything Great said about malays is true. not to mention malays are lazy like crap and discriminate Chinese. seriously Chinese have less rights just for being Chinese how is that fair? I'm a Chinese, and to be honest, I agree with you sometimes. They can be loud, selfish, rude and arrogant at times. But that's mostly the idiotic teenagers that you see in America. Those kids are spoiled and rich, and their parents does every little thing for them, hoping them to have the advantage of a good education in a foreign country. I feel upset at the comments of all those who derogate the chinese. In every race, there is the good and bad and no one race is free from their share of bad hats, disgusting habits and whatever flaws others may so self-righteously accrue to them. Before anyone comments on the abhorrent conduct of others, to harbour hatred against an entire race of people, which in the case of China is in terms of more than a billion, surey speaks something too of this person pettiness. Who are we to comment on the shortcomings of another, let alone an entire rce from however high a moral high horse, we percieve ourselves to be perched on? No one is perfect and since we are all created different, it is only natural that we find others' habits annoying if they happen to conflict with ours. While we find certain habits annoying, shouldn't we also expect that what we deem 'morally' and 'socially' right might offend someone else's social expectations. Isn't this why tolerance and having a global mindset all about today? If we hype so much about going global and connectedness in the 21st century, shouldn't we begin first by showing some tolerance for people of different cultures? Why are people so quick to judge others. While I am ethnic chinese from Singapore and not China and also find some mainland Chinese extremely annoying, loud and uncouth, we should not penalize all Mainland chinese because of some black sheep. No one i think is innatel good or bad, it is where we were born. The Westerners are fortunate because many Western countries are democratic and affluent and developed enough to carry education to a higher level where education is not a factory production of literate people but rather production of a truely educated man. The Chinese went through decades of suspicion and suffering under Mao and survival was probably even more important than familial relations during the cultural revolution when families were forced to betray each other. These people with such mentality raised a whole generation of young people who have most likely imbibed this mindset. We need to give them time to change, hopefully to eradicate that kind of mindset. Also their crudeness. etc. These aspects were neglected during those years and it takes time to reform people like the chinese saying that it takes 3 days to learn a bad habit but 3 yrs to undo it. We all have our share of shortcomings, people always label singaporeans as 'kiasus' (people who cannot lose out) and it is undeniably true but we too have our share of good attributes. If we talk about connectedness and global citizenhship, how can we talk about hatred for an entire race in the same breath?

I am a Russian American currently living in Hong Kong and going to go to China, because it's at least better then Hong Kong. I dislike Russians, I dislike Americans, and I dislike Chinese.
