Ive noticed there are a few people on here as well as irl that seem to need attention so much that they hyjack a person's question and start their own little thread or sometimes an argument or war with somebody right in the middle of your thread. It's annoying as hell to get alerts somebody replied to your question only to find out you've gotten twenty replies but twelve of them have nothing to do with your thread it's off on somebodies private little war. This shows to me either you can't focus, can't read, or are just so egotistical that you want the attention. Some people really are looking for answers to their questions. If you find yourself replying to someone else's comment (not the op) more than once or twice then you might want to reread the question or start your own thread based on what ever you're off on a tangent with. Or am I wrong and every one likes the ignoring of your question for a trip to never never land.

    I don't think that's fair. You're posting on a public forum. You're using it to ask a question but you don't own the threads you post or the site (I'm assuming). You're subject to the nature of the "tool" you're using to get an answer, and if it were that critical of a subject you wouldn't be asking it in a place like this.

    If anything it's more egotistical to think it all has to be about you and your question and you should be able to police whether or in what ways people interact with each other to suit what pleases you.

    It sounds like you are saying "get off my lawn."

        People on here think I'm some old dude in his 50s for some reason.

        Nope just a 20s something guy with a thesaurus. Writing like this would be my perfered method of communication since I have a speech impediment. Honestly IIN has me being more "me" than real life.

      Also the social isolation from not talking to enough real people. Got to get the social exposure somehow and the weirdos on IIN are a hell of a lot less toxic than Twitter or facebook.

        True, I went on Omegle last night out of desperation.

        I went on Facebook today to read a message someone sent me and saw a fight about masterbation during giving birth and someone calling Gordon Ramsey their spirit animal then being ripped a new one in the comments for cultural appropriation. IIN is tame in comparison.

            I’ve found there are about 12 dicks and blank screens for every person who wants to chat. I met a guy who straight up confessed to being a drug dealer to me and some guys in the army who talked about how they all fuck each other but they’re “straight because it’s just funny”.

            I wear a cheap black wig, fake the dodgiest American accent, still use British slang and am obviously in a different time zone to where I’m lying that I’m from yet people just fall for it. It’s the most gullible website, talking to them I see how so many people fall for catfishes.

              Yeah if I wanted that kind of crazy I just watch trailer trash when they are drunk, make sure they dont die from their own stupidity and then extort them for money when they are an inhibited state. Threw up in a sink? 30$ need a ride home? 20$+ 30 if you throw up even though I gave them trash bags for the throw up.

    Is that really a huge issue for you here?

    I could see it being pretty annoying if there were hundreds of active posters and the replies to questions numbered in the thousands, so you had to scroll and scan through loads of irrelevant drivel to find something that was relevant to your OP. But this place has such a low level of activity that I haven't ever seen anything like that here.

    lmaoo, yeah ive noticed that or they purposely change your point to make up their own answer. tbf we shouldnt get notif's on replies to other comments in our thread cuz its confusing. but sometimes it's better to that if the op is a troll

    Have you ever thought that maybe some people like to debate with each other? Another thought, maybe some people see what another person says and disagrees, leading to a discussion about the correctness of a certain statement? They aren't hijacking your thread; if someone replies to someone else, they are not replying to you; they are replying to the person they replied to. That's the glory of Is It Normal. Everyone can say anything whenever they want about anything they want.

    The creator of the thread is the owner only to a degree. People are naturally going to agree and disagree, and they're going to want to talk to each other about their separate points. I can see why it's annoying if you're getting all these irrelevant notifications, but I'm glad that the system allows for debate.
